  1. Niceone mate, bet your well chuffed!!!!! I reckon a celebratory beer is in order! Well done again, atb and enjoy your shooting. P.s I look forward to the what gun posts!! Dave
  2. nice one mate, just remember they are only human, keep it straight and level headed and you will be fine. Whoever mentioned Hobnobs!! now thats just borderline bribery. "yes and i would request the .300 win mag and 1000rounds stored, for rabbit shooting at 1500 yards.....another hobnob sir?" Good luck mate.
  3. feral ones or semi wild farm cats are but if you shoot old mrs thompsons ginger pussy you had better whatch out, a zimmer in the shin is no laughing matter!!
  4. dont you get real quarry like wild boar in your neck of the woods now? i will swap little munty for boar anyday! nothin focusses the mind like 100kg+ wild boar with attitude coming at you!
  5. you can get 10 shot CZ mags for about £30 I find them a lot better than my 5shot ones. the .17hmr shares the same case as the .22wmr so mags are the same. Sorry if you already know the above info. atb Dave
  6. this is what i had in mind on unfamiliar ground and for those far out foxes that just sit and watch around the 300yard mark. it would be useful to ping hedges, trees, mounds etc jst to give some useful markers. i would imagine 90% of my time would be a quick id, lamp on and bang, so no time to ping the target. to be honest i would just like a new gadget that doesnt break the bank, wasnt made in wong kong and is reliable. cheers to all for pointers, Dave
  7. Haha, even if it acts muntac like it's always worth a double check. Shot a vixen last week curled up at the base of a hedge in long grass. It never twiched under white light, my 2 buddies thought it was a munty but were glad I double checked! A head shot later they were convinced but at 250 yards it was hard to tell. Had to get 100yards closer to make sure. If it was middle of a field you can tel instantly but in cover it's a tough call! Alex, I still haven't decided between nightforce 5.5-22x56 or swaro pv 6-24-50 but now zeiss duralyte 3-12x50 at £550 seems tempting!! Lol
  8. I too would like to know. Good question mate. Also I would like to know which models under £300 perform best at night up to 350yards. Cheers, Dave
  9. 8x56 do provide great clarity but even if you only shoot foxes at sub 200 yards, a higher mag offers a larger target and kill zone. 99% of my foxes are shot at less then 200 yards but I would say 50% are spotted at over 300 yards away. A high mag makes initial identification so much easier. I bet a high percentage of 8x56 owners have squeaked a muntjac or two! I know I have! Lol
  10. A lot of you guys will already know this, but for those who don't. If you cut a small circle out of the centre of the red filter on any lamp you gain at least a further 25% more range. Take my lightforce striker, I have an inch diameter hole in the centre, for some reason it sucks the red light from around the edges of the beam and magnifies it through the hole not allowing white light through like you would think. For my tracer I have a half inch hole. Not sure why manufacturers don't do it. A little tip 4u. Atb dave
  11. Ahh ok I stand corrected, I'm just going by what my flo advised me. Dave
  12. Niceone, I expect lots of grins when you see how fast you can rattle off 8 shots or more!! I found my cart to kill ratio not too sharp using my 8shot! Good luck and enjoy, atb Dave
  13. I have fac shotgun. I sold my 8 shot escort due to jamming and the extra weight made me a worse shot through fatigue. I now use a 3 shot pump as it's all I really need for what I do. Be careful on the club front, I was told you are not allowed to use your fac shotgun except for what your conditioned for ie vermin only! Also club will have to be fac cleared or you need an open ticket. The shotgun changes from sgc to fac if it can hold more then 2 shots in a mag and is treated like any other rifle.
  14. sorry to go slightly off topic, hawkeye what ret did you select for your nightforce, with fox shooting in mind? cheers.
  15. ive got the 20ga version mate, crackin bit of kit, the .410 is really quiet i just wanted a little more bang, for pigeons like any .410 you would have to be a crack shot which im not so settled for 20ga, the 12ga model is good just a fair bit louder. as for length...they are bloody long, i have a folding stock on mine but in standard trim i had to unscrew the mod so it fitted in my standard height 5gun cabinet. but for the money mate they are good value and tough as old boots, the weakest point seems to be the mod and where it attaches, just make sure it doesnt work loose. i run subsonic ammo through mine to keep it quiet, and you have to use fibre wads only, the plastic gets caught in the mod baffels. any more info needed jst pm mate, atb dave.
  16. Mine all in took 2 weeks adding .243 and .308. However I was informed of a change in management and a possible Suffolk merger would be occuring soon! Keep on ringing mate Sharon was v helpful. Good luck, Dave
  17. Ok mate may be worth a look, the rifle I'm after next is a browning blr .308 they only cost about 600 quid so could get 700 pounds worth of scope to go on my .243. I did notice a couple of deals on zeiss 3-12x50 at around 600 mark. Was ideally after more mag though. Atb. Dave
  18. haha cheers alex, yeah i think i will be a tad more careful with a top end scope then my cheaper stuff. my RFD can get anything to order but like you say he stocks little in the way of premium scopes on the shelf. if i can make it i will head up to the show. my mrs said to me last night i should get a cheaper middle of the road scope and a new rifle! for the budget!! the only swaro that i can realistically justify is z6 3-18x50 or pvi 6-24x50 but was hoping for a 56mm, not sure if the difference is that great though?? cheers. Dave
  19. Cheers again guys, it does seem swaro offers more over s&b or cz in terms of value.
  20. Would you say they were comparable to the top makes Henry? Food for thought cheers. Dave
  21. Cheers Dan and mr logic, I'm after a bomb proof scope to last. How do you find the max mag on the nightforce for clarity? My head says swaro but I'm really tempted by nf it seems you get more mag for your money. Cheers boys. Dave
  22. cheers mungler, i heard good through my RFD from customer feedback. but ive never heard a bad word against the top euro brands. i know in life you get what you pay for but im just trying to find how much more you get for what seems a lot more money!
  23. ahh thats why i couldn't find it, whats the difference between yours and say a Z6? apart from it being a better price?
  24. ok, i think the z6 is around £1400 and the z6i more like £1900 the BT adds £150 to these prices thats for the 5-30x50 model. which one did you get again mate and rough price (if you mrs isn't looking!!!) ta, Dave
