  1. Just my opinion but this story just does not gel somehow. Pictures of fairly standard machine shop gear, couple of bags of bullets (available from any police armory). Not a picture of any kind showing guns, gun parts or anything gun related (except a few rounds). Very unlike the cops not to fill your telly screen with guns of every kind. Very strange descriptions of what could be done with these "metal manipulating" machines. Even the words used are very uni raised chief constable(ish).

Combine this story with the bs Panorama programme and it has me wondering if there is a bit of jiggery pokery going on?

"What" I can hear you think; "a chief constable telling porkies" well I Hillsborough never.

Seriously people they've been trying legally for years to reduce private gun ownership (with more than a bit of self interpretation of home office guidelines) perhaps now a CC is changing tactics.

Never been into conspiracy theories but ??

Like I said just my opinion.

Comment as you all see fit.

When something is clearly not working the obvious thing to do is to consider changing the approach?

    no?

    am I missing something?

Fraid so Vince and that is certain sections of our community can't see they are doing anything wrong.  Snowflakes, PC muppets and general bunny hugger types who have too much influence with politicos who listen to them. They are like the monkey that lifts a rock and sees a snake beneath it. Promptly faints, when recovered goes back to the rock and lifts it. Snake still there monkey faints again. Recovers goes back to rock snake still there monkey faints yet again.

Next time it seems to get the message and gives the rock a body swerve. This lot (above) will get the message eventually, what it will cost the country in terms of people dead and injured who knows. There is also a financial cost of ??  and something that may lead to change i.e. political credibility.

However this may be a forlorn hope, we've had barely credible governments for years ngedthey don't seem to learn.

So how much would you pay to prevent rather than punish?

Or do you like the idea of punishment rather than prevention? Just saying...as some say

Won't work; whatever methods are used to promote such a concept would like every other quango type organisation soak up the money for no benefit. In order to live together without too much friction we are expected to live by a set of by the laws and rules.

When those rules are broken the culprits are supposedly brought to book by the authorities be they the courts, parents, schools or any other group with authority to so do. That system is breaking down criminally and anti socially. The rate of breakdown will accelerate as perps of all kinds get away with whatever.

So is it sensible to invest in bribing scrotes at the bottom end of the anti social ladder to be good boys. They will take whatever is on offer be it clubs, adventure breaks, educational courses and be naughty just the same.

I for one would not invest a single penny, I would rather give money to the RSPCA and on here that is saying something.

I for one don't like the idea of locking people up for years or inflicting pain however such a lot of toerags deserve one or the other.

Instead of asking such a question Henry why don't you suggest possible 'cures' (doubt if anyone can). I'd be interested in your view.

Donn't know about the birch, the cat would do rather more damage and they could pose with their backs on social media.

Naw, stick with the birch. Don't want to abuse their ooman rights do we? They would not be too keen to show their bums on social media showing their smacked like a school boy medals.  Besides as neither will ever be introduced (reintroduced) it's a bit academic. Anyone with a modicum of foresight should be able to see that when the situation gets worse (and it will). Draconian measures will be needed to put it right, (already alluded to earlier). The PC bullies won't like that nor will the snowflakes, or ooman rightists

Just wish that I had 20/30 years in front of me to see how it turns out.

  5. Apparently on the Isle of Magic before the birch was scrapped, the person who administered it was the biggest policeman you ever did see. Seem to recall he commented once he had never birched the same one twice ?

Two scumbags on the edge of leaving teenage years (mainland tearaways) were arrested and sentenced to a birching (for what I don't recall). On being interviewed by the press afterwards they both said if ever they went back to the IoM they would be the best behaved people to ever visit the island.

Not sure about the mainland though.

"Community payback" I do like that expression. 'You are hereby sentenced to community payback, (scrote smirks) 'ten lashes' (panic sets in, calls for mummy and daddy) Dragged out of court (screaming) and sentence carried out on the courtroom steps.

    Oh I can wish can't I.

  6. I can think of two possible reasons 1) authorities won't spend the money and 2) maybe keeps the inmates quiet if they're in a constant stupor.

Of course a hush power and No3's would do a fair job  (drone deterrent that is not keeping keeping prisoners quiet, mmmmmm now I think about it ).

I have been enjoying the meat from a fallow I shot, when my wife spat out a lump of hard stuff. I looked at it and was amazed (****** off) to find it was a .22 pointed nose air gun pellet. What sort of right oes around trying to shoot a deer with an air rifle? Being a vermin hunter myself, a lot of it with an air rifle I know what it will kill and at what distances. Must, surely, be only a question of time before ownership of any sort of arms will require a licence. Not that that will stop it, of course.

Chavs, toerags, scumbags yobbos, idiots and anything else anyone can think of (keeping it clean). Of course with such lowlife (as we all know) licensing will have no effect.

  8. Read or heard of a story a few years ago, it was going the rounds during a hose pipe ban.

Guy had a hose going up the side of his house to the bathroom, after each family member had taken their bath he would put the free end of the hose in the bath and siphon the water out for his garden.

One day  along comes jobsworth and shouts "oi what you doin, there's a ose pipe ban on". Guy explains to JW what he was doing.  Answer " Naw miite its a OSE PIPE ban innit"

Never found out if the story was true (doubt it ) but it does show what some peoples views of the situation could be. i.e. things could get silly.

  9. Does any of this come from HO guidelines or is it the police's very broad interpretation of something obscure anyway?

Who decides what level of usage makes up good reason? could be a shooter with a charlie calibre uses it occasionally at lambing time and only offs 2 foxes. In my eyes and I would think those of others especially Mr Farmer this is 'good reason'

I suppose if a shooter wanted to be extravagant he/she could zero their rifle/s x  times a week and use an extraordinary amount of ammo. Would the FEO then question high usage. Heads I win tails you lose.???

He does indeed; how did you guess? But then again a few of us in that company had various degrees. Doesn't replace common sense though

I bet he burnt his face badly when the phone rang while he was ironing.

Said this to my director one day when he came in with a burn mark on his cheek near his ear. Was not amused. Turns out how he did it was just as daft, tested if a soldering iron was hot by holding it very close to his face (too close) and it was. Retreated to his office and stayed in there all day.

A recent FOI request revealed her spending thousands on speech writing services. Whilst this may be common place amongst our elected representatives it has never looked as if she has an original thought in her head. This confirms it. You only have to see the panic when a reporter takes her "off piste" with an unprepared topic! God help us if ever she becomes Home Sec.

Never going to happen as long as sensible people vote..............ummm   hang on a bit :|

Just seen that poor 90 year old woman, who was beaten black and blue by some. in her bed, just hoping, they catch this scumbag quickly, and give him a nice long sentence, and every hour spent inside is hell, seems attacks on the old and helpless is on the increase.

If its the one that happened in the north east then according to a poster on Fb he has been arrested. Be interesting to see what sentence he is given. Guessing it won't be anywhere as long as it should be, even if the old lady dies as is common with such serious injuries in the very elderly.

On the bright side perhaps assisted suicide is catching on in UK prisons, perps being so full of remorse they can't live with their actions......NOT

would it not be just as easy to have copies made of your existing keys..

Were it just a case of getting a spare set then yes; easiest way. However the OPs main concern (as I see it from  his first post) was if the keys were found and the finder used the 'force' to find out where he lived it could be a problem.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

i have had a good look and just cant find anything. just seams strange that there made in that country just he whats mine, would have thought it easier for him to buy there

Had a google, just searched 'exporting night vision scopes to Slovakia' quite a lot came up. most of it is commercial or bumpf. I did see however there is more than one manufacturer in Slovakia, So the question has got to be why does he want you to send one from here.

Sounds more than a bit iffy, I would give him a body swerve big time as others have said.

  16. On way to and from Carlisle on the train from /to Newcastle we usually have a bunny  count. This can vary depending on time of day and weather conditions.

We normally see an average of 20 on a small stretch about halfway but we did count around 70 one time recently. Now given the relatively small view of the countryside from a train window, the terrain, trees, embankments etc we only see a small % of the land. So I think its very possible there are a helluva a lot more bunnies on the Cumbrian / Northumbrian borders. Guess the land is not shot or other. Mostly arable  & sheep mixture with some cattle.

    Isn’t Asda owned by wallmart.

I remember seeing the Walmart CEO being interviewed by Trevor McDonald before Walmart took ASDA over. Strewth he was full of it, told the UK they would see what prices should really be like instead of the rip off levels here.

Well he did that alright but not in the direction people expected.

No doubt part of the patter if ASDA do merge with S/Burys will be better prices as well as greater customer choice annnnd a much better 'shopping experience'.....gawd I hate that expression ' '

  19. Joined the stop smoking course at my local chemists, they had 2 or 3 dispensers as advisers, does not need a professional pharmacist apparently. They  see you on a 1 to 1 basis and are really helpful.  The young girl who helped me was also a looker which may or may not have helped.

Was given the patches but failed, then tried the substitute plastic  inhaler things with the filter thing in; failed on that also. Was finally prescribed champix tablets which helped a lot and I finally got off the things after 50 odd years.

They analyse your breath at every fortnightly visit so can see any improvement. Was really chuffed when after two tests of negative results I was declared a non smoker. They make allowances for traffic pollution etc so if a 1 or 2 is measured it does not count.

That was over a year ago since finishing the course not had a cigarette , do still have a fancy now and then but put it out of my mind.

So I would recommend your local pharmacy if they are in the scheme.
