Toplands is ok but too few stands. You can get around in 20 minutes. Rishton down the m65 is better

Many thanks, its not looking too hopefull, I think I'll take a break this week from clays.

We are taking a break at Ravenscar near scarborough this weekend and wondered whether there are any shoots nearby on Saturday or Sunday?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Do cpsa still operate the day pass system?
I ask because my cpsa membership has lapsed but I fancy shooting the registered shoot at Fauxdegla this weekend.
Anyone know whether I can shoot it, birds only of course?

Braidwood near Selkirk, a bit far though.
-
Shouldn't the URL be YouTube, not YouTu.be?
-
Is this the post that is talking about 'blowing down your barrels'?
-
Thanks all, DAVE walker is the man, gun is with him now.
-
That's a pity as he's only down the road. Any other recommendations? I prefer to go direct rather than through a dealer as I'm looking for a quick turnaround.

Anyone know Alan Myers near Preston?
Spotted his name whilst googling. Just need a recoil pad fitting prefer somewhere local.

That is disgraceful behaviour but not unexpected given all the moaning and groaning about the targets.
I think those individuals should be ashamed of themselves and publicly named.
If they can't hit the damn targets maybe they should take a lesson!!

Thinking further , shooting at a static pattern plate might not diagnose an eye dominance issue but it will show up changes to gunfit.
-
Try and find a pattern plate and see where the gun is really shooting.

Take a look at http://www.ospschool.com/
Great method in my opinion, basically hard focus on front edge of clay and mount into the lead window. Gun hold about 70% along flight path. Basically only 3 leads zone 1 right at front of clay to 2.5 feet out. Zone 2 3 feet to 8 feet and zone 3 more than 8 feet. Similar to mms but not same as you hold much further out so minimising gun movement.

Excellent ground, 24p per clay non members, 21p members. About 40 traps overall, including skeet dtl and compak layouts. Excellent multi-trap layouts all with claymate. Pattern board, shop and butties. I am a member so might be biased.

It must be a bit demoralizing missing more than you hit, but you can always vote with your feet, but you will never improve unless you shoot targets that challenge your ability.

Try Sean Ponting, great guy, has his own ground in Wiltshire. Search on gunsite clay ground.

Coniston is a great ground pity they don't do more registered sporting competitions.

I have the laser shot. Use it mainly to check gunfit but then only cast. Difficult to check vertical alignment as no account can be made for muzzle flip in reality but gives a reasonable approximation if you know what you are looking for. Maglite is probably better for mounting practice as the torch projects more of a diffuse beam rather than the dot on the laser.

Me too, hope all goes well with new application. When will they be notified?
-
Thanks Gordon
Do you know who they use? I didn't think either had anyone on site?
-
Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in the Preston area for things like annual servicing and fitting recoil pads etc.?
-
I agree, Blackpool is a good ground albeit a bit bleak in the sleet and rain!
I live near longridge and mainly shoot at Coniston on Saturday although kelbrook and Manchester are easy to get to as well.
I try and shoot a registered on a Sunday if I can face a 1 1/2 hour drive otherwise lots of local grounds shoot Sunday.

Personally I'd put 32 inch barrels on your CG.
