I will give em a go and see what happens. I'll have to raid the piggy back again if all goes to rats.

24 gm vip's, I'm downsizing! The 24 gm compx fibres get excellent reviews. I normally shoot IC & LM or LM & M through a guerini summitt impact. The guerini chokes are excellent and shoot tight anyway. I think you might be right about sticking to the same chokes though, given it only takes 3-4 pellets to break the clay anyway??

I am going try out some 21 gm compx fibre this weekend considering the excellent write up they seems to get everywhere but wondered given there are 75% fewer pellets in a 21 gm load cf. 28 gm I wondered does this mean do you need to choke up more or, given the excellent supposed patterns, use less choke? Any thoughts or experiences?

Ed what colour lens do you have in your flak jackets?
Given prescription lenses cost alot more one pair will have to do.

At current lead prices (not reclaimed lead) that is about 1/2 million pounds worth of lead at least in the field!

I could'nt resist the challenge but I estimate between 300 to 600 metric tonnes.

There are strong rumours that A6 clay target club in Bolton is to close after 40 years in early September.
Apparently the owners lease the site from a farmer who now wants to put dairy cattle on the field and wants the shooting to stop.
This is a real shame as the owners have put a lot of effort ito the club over the years and it has a large and loyal following.
Does anyone know any more?

Hi. Shaun where and when is this pw charity shoot?

Could be Gordon R you might be right. I always thought that raising the comb had little effect anyway on poi unless you aimed like a rifle. Lowering the rib relative to the barrels is the only real way of raising poi. If you keep your eyes glued to the bird you can shoot effectively from the hip and that's equivalent to raising the comb a foot!
-
Five inches if you aim your gun like a rifle.

Sounds good, so how does one express interest in being considered? Contact Terry direct or fill a form in at the first shoot?
-
If you are going to bang away bang away with a plan. The skeet range is a good place to start.
-
At 20 feet away shoot straight at a rabbit or back edge. They appear fast but nowhere near as fast as your shot string. (400 metres per sec) if they bounce, great they are even slower.

I have a lasershot and have found that the best way to check fit is to close both eyes , mount the gun naturally then open your eyes and see where the red dot is in relation to your front bead. Ideally it should be blotted out by the bead. Make sure you put the laser shot in the top barrel. At 16 yards the bottom barrel will appear to shoot low but the red dot should be blocked out by the bead at 35 yards or so assuming both your barrels are regulated to shoot in the same place. Then shoot at some easy dolly clays and see if you smoke them. I would double check all this before you start messing with cast and height on the assumption you were hitting clays before you tried the lasershot? Hope that helps?

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. It is what I suspected. Nice to meet up with you at one of them, I'll be wearing a pink carnation! Thx again

Hi, just moved into the Grimsargh area, east of Preston from Gloucestershire and keen to tie in with any local shooters, preferably those that like shooting registered sporting comps. Been to quite a few local grounds but not many shooters seem to shoot registered!
Is there is anyone out there?? if so, please get in touch and maybe we can meet up?

Where are you based? I am interested but could not really get down by 0900, more like 1200 ish as I based in Lancashire. Let me know what you think.

I have learnt that to check poi on a pattern plate you must mount with a moving gun ie focus hard on the aim point gun out of shoulder barrels about a foot below aim point. Then mount up onto the aim point and fire as soon as gun is mounted. Repeat about six times using open choke from 16 yds. Adjust accordingly and check out on real clays. Ideally I think it is best to check poi on real clays but you need someone who can see where your shot is going so you can make the mods until you consistently smoke the targets.

Thanks Gordon R, I've been to Kelbrook a few times but have never seen a pattern plate?
I assume it is hidden somewhere?
How do you rate them as gunfitters?
-
Can any of you guys can recommend a good gunfitter preferably with access to a pattern plate based in the north west area? I want to set up my adjustable rib / comb.
optimum choke for 21 gm shells - more or less?
