  2. my other half's brother has just got his citizenship and i don't think we'll ever seem him in the UK again. i know it wasn't straightforward, but it certainly seems to have been worth it.

on a separate note. my best friend recently made a permanent move to australia - i know the grass isn't always greener, but it certainly sounds like it! we are making plans now.

  3. A very common situation unfortunately. Certainly legal to withold treatment, whereas the deliberate hastening of death is illegal. Just to be clear, withholding treatment is not euthanasia in the eyes of the law or medical ethicists.

  4. Finally have got to the point where I have some free time on my hands and can go shooting. Since it's been about 10 years since I fired a gun, I thought a lesson might be a good idea.

Roughly how much are lessons if you have your own gun/ammunition?

Any recommendations for a place to have lessons in the Exeter/Devon area?

    Thanks.

  5. my other half is quite anti-gun, but we have a good relationship, so she supported me getting a shotgun. she is anti-gun to the point of refusing to look at it!

the other night, there was a loud noise in the garden at about 3am, woke us both up, first thing she said was "get the gun"

  6. I had one at 15. It was 20 years ago, but I don't remember it giving any practical advantage (I went clay and pigeon shooting with my father). However, I was asked to go to the local police station for an interview with one of the police officers. I remember feeling very apprehensive about this, but I it really made me think about the seriousness of using a shotgun and my responsibilities.

I'd say go for it :good:

  7. What annoys me about the NHS is that inconsistency. Some hospitals are excellent others **** poor. Even within the same trust they can be different. Why is that?

Some are well managed, others are not.

Some are staffed by demoralised, over-worked staff, others are not.

Some are under-resourced, others are not (well, less under-resourced than others!).

Some are in less desirable areas, so don't attract the best, most motivated staff.

I could go on, but you get the idea. Hospitals are just like any other organisation, be it a supermarket or gun shop. All patients deserve the best care, but sadly this doesn't always happen.

  8. As an NHS doctor, I can see how some of the things you describe came about, but an explanation doesn't help you. You've had a shoddy service and have every right to complain, I urge you to do so.

In the meantime, I hope your pain is under control and you get an appointment for a scan in good time.
