  1. Hi anyone know of a supplier in the midlands. I am aware of Krank. Thanks.
  2. Hi any body know if the same amounts of powder are used as plain old black powder. Anyone suggest loads please? I am currently using 60gr and 24g of shot with krank medium black powder and now have a kilo of Swiss.
  3. Just a heads up. It's Lakeside at Wymswold leics grand summer bash on Sunday 24th Should be a great day out for the whole family, Lakeside is a fishing shooting ground with some great clays. Have a peek at their web site.
  4. Don't need a tin hat! WD40 is excellent stuff. IF IT'S USED FOR WHAT IT WAS DESINGNED FOR. As for dehumidifier blocks. If your cabinet was airtight yes but as it's not the blocks could just be drawing moisture in from outside of the cabinet. AND STORING IT INSIDE. You may say your guns have never rusted but a thin film of oil will prevent rust for long time. blocks or not.
  5. Another of my small collection of side by sides. A Belgian F. DUMOULIN very plain side plate 12g ejector. A strong gun with perfect barrels and a lovely plain straight grained stock. This gun was custom made in the 20s for a Mr. Kowak of Kalisz " this is inscribed on the barrels" 28 inch barrels, two and a half chambers, and side clips. Barrels do show some wear to the bluing. Dumoulin are more famous for their custom built game rifles.
  6. Now that's very very nice. Ought to be shot. But I don't think I would!
  7. Early days of course but wouldn't it be nice to have a side by side and black powder day somewhere. A meet of people who appreciate guns who's barrels are the correct way round. I can suggest a clay ground which would put on such a day. Sympathetic to black powder and with an excellent restaurant. I know some folk would have to travel quite a distance but I would for such a day. Some of the many shooters watching these threads but not posting might fancy a looksee at Side by sides. Even a possibility shoot some fine guns. As I say early days but bear it in mind lads and ladesses Clay ground I would suggest is LAKESIDE FISHING AND SHOOTING. Wymeswold.. Leics Fairly central although many of you have not put a location on your sig.
  8. Looks very nice. What better way to spend the day.
  9. Thanks Marsh man. Tizz nice. it is documented that Richard Ellis made guns for Purdey before 1900 Purdey now produce a very similar hammer gun. They say "in the old style" it's an ejector but almost a copy of mine and it's £94,000
  10. Thank you sir for those kind words. I also have at the other end of the scale a cheap as chips Belgian .410 double hammer. Lots of these around at low prices as they were usually badly neglected with bad bores and shot loose. Mine however came from a guys collection and is almost as good as it was when new.
  11. I must say how pleased I am to see a side by side section I too have a passion for these guns and especially the older English ones. i have a very nice Richard Ellis hammer gun from Around 1890. Weighs in at a tad over six pounds and shoots well. Nitro proofed too.
  12. PRIMERS NOW WITHDRAWN FROM SALE THANKS FOR LOOKING.
  13. Got mine today. Thanks Jay. It's a genuine Benelli proofed for steel choke and identical to my Beretta ones.
  14. Hi I will take the four notch quarter choke one please. How do you want paying. Regards.
  15. How silly of me. I thought it was in my info . I am inbetween Notts and Derby
  16. Hi I have 700 CCI m magnum primers for sale. these are a bit hot for what I need. face to face only I fear. I am between Notts and Derby. £20.00
  17. Mistake at the proofhouse. should have been marked 20-70 to match the chamber size.
  18. Thanks I will keep you posted.
  19. I accept this could be the case, but why would Birmingham not obliterate the unsafe 70mm mark? Will be interesting to hear what Birmingham have to say. If I get a reply!
  20. Just getting back into shooting and have a proof mark question. I have asked Birmingham proof house but wonder if any of you guys are experts. Vintage Belgian 20g SXS. Original bore chamber marks are 20-70 in an omega on it's side. These marks are clear and have not been obliterated. The gun was originally proofed for Nitro! A later reproof "Birmingham" Shows marks in bold upper case 20-65 and the STD with crown above as standard proof. Can anyone suggest why the difference in chamber size. The chamber actual size is 72mm.
  21. Hi. It is an ejector, works perfectly and it's a modified lee metford bolt. The run of the mill 410s had beech stock and a safety on the bolt all same as Webley. I have it on good authority that production ran from 1911 to 1939.
  22. Thanks anyway, it is nice. lovely bit of kit. From what I can discover there might have only been a few hundred made and half of those would have had the shortened barrel. There has just got to be info somewhere.
