  1. What "most" of these are is factory reject parts from the phone industry, nothing wrong with that but dont expect them to last forever. I have a bigger one thats used as a car recorder and its been working great for the last 2 years and the only thing that I have had to replace was the charger. Quality of recording is of whay you would expect from a early iphone but for the money given the price of gopros etc they are a steal esp when you smash one you can just laugh it off!

  2. had a bit of a problem the other day with a cartridge that would not chamber, I was using the sxs so I just pulled it out and inspected and it had a bulge on the side. if this was in the semi I think it would have been a day ender trying to get it out!

Does this thing happen often? only shot a couple of thousand so far so should I keep a eye on things?

Should I open it up and see whats happened?

  3. the woodland trust were giving 2 year old trees away at one of the game fairs, we took a load to plant! might be worth seeing if anyone in the local area has any the want to give out.

  4. had a few 017s and 170s but sold em all after getting a husqvarna 346xp, not much more weight, runs like a raped ape and cuts like a lightsaber!

parts are cheap for the stihl though and not too bad to work on but the oil pump is a pain to do.

  5. Gasless is ok but in the long run flux wire costs a ton so a second hand gas set would be alot cheaper and do more, budget welding is nomally tough work unless its a inverter arc set, you can buy a stitch welding attachment for arc and weld thin to thick steel. mig is good for small but unless you willing to fork out more the cheap end of the scale normally produce poor welds and break right when you dont want them too! I currently have 2 migs in bits and a 180 amp arc which had built allsorts and refuses to die it trips a 13 amp supply when doing big welds so I have a 8.5kw supply just for it now.

  6. Had a good days practice on the clays before my first comp this weekend but noticed a few more mis feeds than normal and thought it might be dirt so when I got back I stripped it down and the forend support has broken off and and put the gun out of action as chambers and midway are out of stock of this part. so do I take the ithaca pump for a laugh or give up? its only a charity fun shoot but though it would be a good intro to comp shooting and now quite gutted!

  7. So if I have this right then the loading data is a preset for a certain cartridge, and as long as I stick to the charge and shot weight the wad can be changed to suit a different brand of cartridge if it does not produce the correct crimp (or add a overshot card if too short)

Just one more, having never taken a shell apart should the shot fill the wad cup to the brim then the crimp uses the wad and shot to give a clean fold when crimping? I have found some pictures of a under filed crimp but if its too high I assume the cartridge just wont crimp over.

One day I will get this sorted and acctually reoad, got the shotmaker working this weekend but I only had a shallow catch tank and managed to produced some great pancakes! on the plus it was dripping great and rolling off the lip a treat.

  8. Hi, I have been trawling the net for the last few weeks learning about reloading as a bit of a hobby. I am a bit lost though about reloading data for salvaged hulls from the clay ground, do you need a certain type of good hull or can I just collect up one type and ask/find for data on that one? I grabbed a few different hulls to see what the difference was between them and internally they all measure up the same just different brass height. Even a kent and gamebore have the same brass stamp markings just different colour!

I nhave found lots of data for american powder loads but nothing to id a uk hull as one that would work.

I would want to reload for clays a 28g load plastic wad is fine. I am giving making my own shot too but thats a bit off yet!

    So what do you do?

  9. I have the oregon file guide like the one shown and its pretty good and not too bad on price think it was about £14, if your on ebay then I have been using archer chains as there cheap and pretty good. Im running them on 3 different saws at the moment and they have had some abuse this winter and there still pretty sharp and out of the box the cut like nobodys! If your bucking big logs then a spare bar and chain is a god help as cuts closing up can be fun without spairs. it happens to the best of us

And some chainsaw trousers ARE a lifesaver!
