hi, don't know the scope. But RICOH did make some cracking 35mm SLR cameras so the optics should be good seems the Ricoh scope was just a spotting scope no good for gun use, couldn't see it all through the window.

i have a 7ltr 232bar bottle which i use to fill aa 410 & Alros m400, it cost me £2.50 for a fill from my local dive centre i get around 15 fills plenty for 2 weeks shooting. oh and i paid £89 for the bottle (New) and £47.00 for the gauge and fill hose.

I have made a decision, love this rifle so much, going to drop 1 of my other rifles off FAC and add this as a 14ftlb. Would be nice to have a chat with another Alros owner!

Hi guys from a previous post I made on help to identify an air rifle I purchased last weekend http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=36767 it turned out to be an Alros m400 shadow. The rifle is a beauty and deadly accurate, I have a small indiscretion with it. With my preferred pellet being a Air Arms Diablo hunter the rifle chrono's at over 14ftlb, I don't have a spare slot on my FAC. I have found with crown flat heads it chrono's under 12ftlb, I know it's strange for such a vast difference between 2 pellet makes. but it dose seem to be pellet fussy. Is there a fellow Alros owner out there who can tell me how to turn it down. I hate flat head rounds! And just wish to use my old faithful's. As Alros are no longer trading I have spoken with my local gun shop and they assure me they can replace any seals, which may blow and maintain the mag mech, trigger and barrel, but they will need the rifle for a week to play with the pressure setting. I can't bear the thought of not having it around for a week so any help to tame the beast will be greatly received.

Hi guys thanks for all the replies, i have solved the mystery, the lady rang me today, she has found the original order. (yes order  ) it is a custom made Alros M400 Shadow. it was a special order in walnut with the advanced trigger system, with removable cylinder, i Believe you can fit a large buddy bottle on. it cost £500 to be made i paid £150.00, this really is a nice rifle, best bargain i have had for ages.

cheers for the replies here are a few more pics. (i dont think its a bam! the lady told me her husband had quite a few of his guns custom made but didn't know much about this 1)

Hi guys I need a little help identifying this air rifle. I purchased it today from a widow selling off her deceased husbands gun collection, she had already sold his shot guns and rim fires to the local gun shop, she was advertising his other misc shooting stuff including a 3-9-40 scope, I turned up to look at the scope and it was sitting on this. She told me the gun shop wasn’t interested in the air rifle, (they hadn’t seen it as it was in his garage locked away) she asked me if I would take the scope off if I wanted it, when I asked what she was going to do with the air rifle she said keep it until her grandson was older, I agreed that was a good idea, she then asked me if I was interested in it. I explained my wife would kill me with it if I took it home, and that I only have the money from shooting rabbits to spend on gun stuff. She explained that’s what her husband did with it and offered it to me @ £***** ill tell you if you can tell me what it is. Ok its walnut .22 pre charged 200lb 8 shot. Nearly new not a mark on it. At first I thought it was an Air Arms 410 in walnut but the cylinder is too long. There are no manufacture markings on it what so ever yet as I say it’s in mint condition. I took it out tonight and came back with 26 rabbits, its awesome. I must of fired 90 or so pellets and it still seems to have plenty of power left. So any ideas? Here are some picks.

Nice gun nice bird but nothing like our mystery guest. Observe the head and beak

looks like a ferral to me nowt strange about it just i little brighter that the normal ferral imo Oh oh I can finally post something about birds. I am basically a rabbit hunter with air rifle and do a few pheasants with shotty but never really bothered with birds and air rifles. Now here as I see it a rare but often occurrence. now before I tell this story I must advise I am no bird expert what I am about to pass on is what was said to me by an old guy who grows my garlic for me. He is a dude abut 110 years of age well he looks it. He is a strange old guy who keeps an allotment near my house, he also has a pigeon and dove loft. I have seen these birds at his place; he explained to me that this is a mating between a dove and a feral. I say it’s rare but often because it dose happen often but the feral gene is stronger than the dove so most offspring appear feral in appearance. Any how as I say it came from a strange old guy (don’t shoot the messenger)

All my permissions are well off the beaten track, no public access or rights of way. In fact on the golf course if they are not golfers they are to be considered trespassers and I have been given permission to escort them off the premises with threat of legal action. (Had to do this on several occasions)

Yep agreed got to get them out of the population, we seem ok up here for now but my m8t's over the hill have seen it. just got to hope we have a harsh winter to see a few of the carriers off.

cheers for the info i think il pop down the local gun shop and see what there like, don't really want to wait another 3 weeks unless someone can give a real big up for the enigma.
-
Sorry for late reply I missed it. I did have composite on order an expected it last week, but had an e-mail from the company advising that what they thought were .22 were actually 1.77 so I now have to wait another 3 weeks for the thing. It’s annoying because if I had ordered it from BAR it would have a healthy Rabbit count now. I was offered a Weihrauch HW100 S for just £60.00 more. Is that a good deal?

i have never had an fac pcp but have often considered it. i have a Remington 541-T 5-Shot .22 LR RF which was a gift from my ossy cousin, i find it hard to get shooting permission for this on land around here but have no problem with air rifles. i now keep the Remy at my old chaps house because that is nearer land with permission. unfortunatly this is over 100 miles away from me so the old ****** gets most of the fun out of it.

Hello Martin, it’s been some years since I changed a spring in a rifle and I guess the advice on having the gun shop do it is the best advice. However I recently had the chance to see a BSA lightning in action with a Theoben Gas Ram installed, there was virtually no re-coil and I was very impressed how silent it was, the ram was factory set to produce 11.5FT/PS. I don’t know much about gas rams but the owner seemed very impressed on the rifles increased performance and accuracy. Just a thought and hope this may help. Ps Theoben Gas Rams available for the BSA Lightning Here.
