I seem to remember that the bass limit is smaller than the size they need to be to breed, essentially fish nthat are legal to take, but havnt had a chance to spawn. I dont often take bass but I try to only take fish of over about 450mm nose to tail fork.
Just out of interest what do you guys use as leader? Mine goes: Snaplock to 25lb Flurocarbon (about 2-3 foot long) to Swivel to 30lb braid. Im mostly working shallow divers and shads round rocks

Im in the same game as you Mike, last month was our best ever and this month has started resonably well despite the school hols.
Most of the lads I deal with are going strong with quite a few turning work away. They are mainly smaller builders and Landscapers though, I know a lot of the big boys are struggling, and can understand why when they dont even bother trying to squeeze us down on price.
Must admit im quite confident of a good year all round.

I did a bit in Cornwall in early may and had some interest (2 hookups, 2 hook pulls ) so its always worth a chuck. I would say this is the perfect time to start bassing in earnest but Im not the most experianced lure angler so others will have a better idea.

i did pass plus 8 years ago cheapest were prudential at 660 with pass plus i think the rest were £1plus
Sounds like you got a result then. Admiral were cheapest for my first lot of insurance, but I think I still paid £1100 on a P reg 1litre Citroen AX, one thing that helped get it down was to have my mum on as a named driver which took a few quid off the total. I seem to remember getting a quote from Adrian Flux insurance brokers that was second cheapest. They specialise in individualy tailored policys or somthing.
-
pass plus is not a waste homogney at all to some companies its worth 1 or 2 years no claims
give prudential a call as i had 3 years with them after i passed and they were the cheapest each year by alot or Google pass plus insurance
When I looked into doing the course after I had passed I found the ones that gave a discount for Pass Plus were generally the very expensive companys, all the pass plus did was reduce the quote to just above what cheaper insurers wanted without the pass plus. This was about 8 years back, so things might have changed.
I managed to write of two cars, one in quite spectacular style, within 2 years of driving so can understand why the insurance is steep for teenagers. The quotes you get as a 19 year old with a claim on record certainly makes you drive with a bit more care!

Gauranteed to remove knickers from a distance of thirty feet

Used them in the past and have been happy with the quality and service, their sampler packs are pretty good as you can get a feel for what you like without shelling out too much.

Smartcast is the 'known' one in that case, but you hear very mixed opinions about them, mainly regards problems with the range and while you can adapt (read 'bodge') the transmiter thingumybob im not sure I would use one myself. Theres also a lot of the US spec ones (green rather than yellow floats)on ebay which are not covered by a warrenty when used over here As has been said you are using it to ID features rather than fish and on your average lake a marker rod and some knowledge can do everthing the smart cast can plus a lot more. I should point out that ive never used one myself, but friends of mine have and were not keen.

Have I missed the boat ? I want to have a go at this.

Double pork in cider..
My kind of girl
I belive its known as 'Airtight' in certain circles Gary
That does look very tasty though Amateur and given that I like(*chooses words carefully*) the meat from a pig and drinkable cider I might give it a go once Autumn comes back around.
Nice one!

I guess it depends on which "wheel" Sir was intending to grease!
Jolly good show anyway old chap...
Seeing her again? I've got a great recipe for a fish finger sandwich
Still sounds better than a toasted cheese sandwich. :o
Im going to hers on Thursday for dinner. I bet shes got a thread on somthing like Ironing Monthly Forum or whatever it is women do on the internet saying 'Recipie needed to impress a gorgeous sex god who cooks a mean prawn curry'
well, one can only hope.
-

LOL, Im sure you know what I mean

If anyones interested I went for this in the end: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1326/kerala-prawn-curry
and have to say it was bloody lovely! Well worth a go but it needs somthing else, but im not sure what. Its missing depth somehow. Anyway, it did as it was supposed to and greased the wheels very well

Bag of ASDA frozen raw king prawns.
Jar ASDA red Thai curry paste.
coconut milk (About 200ml/half pint)
tray of baby sweetcorn.
Crunchy peanut butter (as long as you both are not allergic to them).
bag of coriander leaf.
Bag of noodles.
Dead easy and takes 15 mins. Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan or wok, add 2 handfuls of de-frosted prawns, along with a heaped tbspn of curry paste and as much of the sweetcorn as you like. Stir like mad. As the paste starts to thicken add some milk and a tbspn of peanut butter and lower the heat. Chop the coriander and put the water on to boil for the noodles. Check the sauce for thickness and add more milk if necessary.
Just before serving add the chopped coriander, enjoy !!
That looks good Henry! Certainly sounds easy so may have that for me and my flatmate at some point this week, but maybe not tonight as I cant be seen taking things from jars or my status as culinary god might be damaged
the only thing to remember is if this is a possible sure thing just don't go cutting chillies with bare hands
There speaks the voice of experiance!
And the closest yet to some of the replys I was expecting
Keith Floyd's one has always served me well..
Floyd’s Royal Thai green prawn curry
(One of the most exotic feasts to come from Asia)
Ingredients
Olive oil
Green chilli curry paste
Large prawns
Coconut milk
Green peppercorns soaked in brine
Fresh Kaffir lime leaves
Fresh basil finely chopped
Method
Heat the olive oil in a pan
Add the green chilli curry paste and cook off a little
Add the fresh prawns (de-shell if necessary) and mix well
Add coconut milk and stir
Finally add the green peppercorns and torn lime leaves
Simmer for approximately 7-8 minutes
Season to taste and serve sprinkled with fresh basil finely chopped
That looks lush, If I can get Kaffir lime leaves then we might have a winner.
I suppose I could always take the lable off the jar of paste. Ive turned a few up on google, but a recomendation always helps , so cheers all.

Take her out for dinner!
Suggested Loch Fyne, but she seems very keen to come over to mine , so who am I to argue? Also I think I might have oversold my skill with seafood

Ive noticed aspects getting worse and some getting better. I had one Codling last October that was about the size of a kitchen spatula and hardly any Dab. I could almost garantee that a basic paternoster on size 1s at 60-100 yd throughout January would have me taking half a bucket home when conditions were right. I've had about a dozen all winter and none above legal size. The summer fishing has gone a bit weird also, I gave up mackerelling after slooging away for hours for odd fish yet last season I've never caught so many Bass in my life. Probably only half a dozen keepers but they were queing up.
I'm going to give the mullet a bit more time and effort this year. Might even catch one!
The Mackeral were definatly strange last summer, I dont do a lot of seafishing but normally manage a good few off the Marina to fill the freezer with pike bait and my stomach with smokies, but last year hardly managed any. We couldnt even find any when sharking out of Penzance which was very, very strange indeed, but like you said the beaches down there seemed paved in Bass.

And red-legged partridge, rabbits, carp, grey squirrels, wels catfish, zander & rainbow trout.

lol i can beat that i took my family for a outing to cleethorpes in 2008 went to McD's for dinner there cost me £20+ for meals and a week or so after got a parking fine for £90 for overstaying there 75min max stay, were does it say in any shop that when u enter sry dear customer u have 5mins to get what u want and get the hell out. never bin back since
I got one of those from Maccy Ds, if its a private car park im told the fines are unenforcable. I didnt respond or acknowledge either of the letters and certainly didnt pay and 6 months later it went away.

Not as far as im aware, only covers England and recreational anglers though, I think its somthing like theres only 5% of the number there was even 30 years ago (from memory though so stand to be corrected).
