  1. He might give 40p a bird but he only takes the woodies and only the plump ones. Out of a 50 bag, he might have 20 if i'm lucky. The rest get de-breasted and frozen. He has any rabbits for a £1-£1.50 depending on size. He sells for £3.50 but as long as it pays for the cartridges I'm not too bothered.
  2. I had pigeon in London for dinner while at a conference, poached in port with redcurrants and capers :yp: YUM YUM £27.50 Well the company was buying, but I couldn't help but feel ripped off when my local dealer only coughs up 40p a bird!!! WE SHOULD MAKE A STAND!!! (They probably buy em in France anyway!!)

  10. Guys A black bird has built a nest and layed eggs (4) and hasn't been back to nest for a week. I was going to use the eggs to attract some magpies or crows down the farm. 1. Is this Legal? 2. Is it worth doing and what are the best tactics. I was going to invest in a magpie deek and set it up with the eggs at it feet!!!!
  11. MMMmmmmm I like the fox flash back but I think the woodcock one is in the lead!!! Deako needs to have a judge but he's probably at some show making squillions selling deeks. KEEP THEM COMING!!!!!!!!
  12. Thats more like it!!! Its amazing what goes through your head in a split second. I remember my first driven pheasant day after being a clay shooter for a couple years. Surrounding a wood the whistles blew and not one bird came over my peg. As the beaters reached the edge of the wood, a Hare bolted straight at me and in blind (but safe) panic I let it go behind the line before deciding to pull the trigger. one dead hare, and congratulations from the shoot captain on a sure and safe shot. Later the guns let me know what they were really thinking as it bolted!!! (peppered beaters!!)
  13. No prize winners here, come on guys think back ta that first blood experience!!! please refrain from your experiences with the farmers daughter (you can PM them to me )
  14. All types of bee produce milk....... "The nurse bees feed the larva a diet of only royal jelley, or bee's milk, made from a gland on their heads. In only 16 days a new queen emerges. She seeks out and destroys any rival queens, because there can be only one queen per colony" Ps... YOU CAN KEEP YOUR POO!!!!
  15. Get a solicitor on the case and don't forget the Psychological effects of this incident on yourself and or passenger. you could even throw in a bit of whip lash for good measure. I think you may be in for a new gun!!!!
  16. What was everyones best first shooting experience? first rabbit, Pigeon, Hare or pheasant let us know. the best one wins a Prize!!!!! (Dont get too excited, Deako can be the judge!!!)
  17. Mack I think it must have been the late 70's early 80's, Hows shooting in yorkshire, I used to shoot in Bawtry a few years ago, cracking little shoot, Plenty of Hartlies around there!!!!! I remember shooting my first bolting from a wood, I think the line of guns thought I was going to pepper the beaters!!! Still I was only 16 and the adrenaline was pumping but a good result. Perhap a topic for a forum could be memorable first shooting experiences?
  18. I'm looking for a small trap to throw a few clays on the farm while its quiet of the woody front. not looking for anything special or fancy as long as it can throw a standard clay 30-40yds it will do. Anything around the 20-30 pound mark pref. in the Notts/Derby area to save on postage.
  19. Browning Silver S/A Quick load- no need to press buttons, just feed em straight in and shoot. You can bash it, get it muddy and wet and not worry about the cost!!! But of course a nice pair of matched Purdey No.1's for when uncle Duke wellington invites you to shoot grouse on a wednesday afternoon are a must!!!
  20. If you know who Hartlie Hare is your showing your age!!!
  21. Went for a walk around the shoot yesterday and bagged a couple of rabbits. On the back I spooked another couple of rabbits followed by a pair of big Hartlies (Hares). Do they usually live together? I didn't think they did. Before anyone asks I didn't bag one (tempting as is was!!!)

  23. Is there anyone in the Derby area who wants to come Pigeon shooting and subsequently return the favour?
  24. No problem either, has anybody got that Rough Shooting book? Turn off yer net nanny Jonny, its probably picked up how to SEX pigeons!!!!
  25. I shoot in Derbyshire and there has never been so many pigeons as this year. The farmer blames the dry conditions and subsequent lack of Rape on the east coast. Has anyone else heard of this? Are there any other Derbyshire shooters out there?
