  6. Hi all, well the title says it all. Ok i have been wanting to have a go at my S410s stock, theres nothing wrong with it,its a nice stock. Theres no going back now,,heres the stock now sanded. After every sanding i washed the stock, then dried it quickely to lift the loose fibres. Hmmm do i keep it natural Put a small tester on the stock..Took it abit further,Hmmmm do i keep it natural. The other choice i have,is down to two coloured woodstain,Indian rosewood or jacabean oak ( I didant what to spray a coloured laquor) Tried some of the said two colours on some pine wood, and decided on the rosewood. Now i have the stock in one hand and in the other i have a lint free cloth with the woodstain ready to go ...So i thought here goes,, Now i was not prepaired, and not expecting my beloved stock. I started on the four/end and worked the stain down the stock, and there was problems straight away. The end grains, this is were the grain of the wood has been shaped ,eg;around the cheek piece and on the grip,(beach is the worste) Deano called around the next day and we agreed that it needs alot of the dark areas needs buffing. So i ended up buffering my stock for the next THREE hours I then warmed the stock ready for the first coat of walnut oil. I have given it eight coats of walnut oil with a light sanding on the good areas, and used a P320 grade finishing paper on the dark areas and its looking good. I have changed the oil to a Danish oil,and i will give the stock lots more oil treatment. But i have been out today with the rifle for a photo, More photos to come. Mick
  7. It took me ages to decside on putting a sling on the rifle,Deano and steady kept on to me to get one,as thay have slings. So because this one was given to me i went to my local gun shop, the lads there adviced me on sling mounts. Noal the gunsmith told me what to do (as I wanted to fit them myself) pointed to a drill gave me a drillbit, and said do it now if you want.So i did. First I held the rifle by the forend of the stock over my shoulder,i put some masking tape on the areas that looked and felt right, and marked were to drill .Then i put tape on the drillbit the depth that i wanted to drill. MAKE SURE that the screw thats going in the forend of the stock is not to long,or it may come through the wood. I removed the stoc,,and did it,,jobs a good un The best thing i did is fit the sling, when we go out hunting were out for the day and the sling is a good adition Mick
  8. Ha,,it was given to me But i did not know of its quality, thanks for the thumbs up on the sling, and likeing my rifle.

  12. Hello Terry.we do alot of decoying with air rifles. This is done next to a small wooded area. I put two full body dec out about 10mtrs in the field under the flight path, and stand in the woods, the pigeons see the decs and swing around and land in amoungst the trees.Once we see the prefered trees the birds are using(this depends on wind direction)we will move within range of the trees the pigeons are using. I i should of said, theres alot of oak trees in the wood and the pigeons are looking for the last of the Acorns on the ground. We put the decs near the oaks.
  13. Hi,i have a s410.22 carbine and i cannot falt it.I did have a FX2000,,no regrets, the FX2000 was and is a nice gun,but i needed something a bit lighter. Steve has a s410.22 and loves it,the S410 replaced a springer. Another mate has a R10.22 mk2 and is having ongoing problems with the small seal on the pellet probe, and the mag seal, these are still ongoing. Another friend has a FX2000.22,this replaced a wh100.22and he is very pleased with the FX2000 and happy that he made the right choice. Next,is another Fx2000.22 and he loves it,the FX2000 replaced a webley omega .22,no regrets. The last on is a S410.22 and he loves it,the S410 replaced a Brocock light hunter.22.The issues with the Brocock was low shot count per charge. Mick
