  1. Bigger than a dead Otter, more or a dreadnought judging by the size of him.
  2. No, my good lady wife has never had to resort to holding the Pringles tube for me - I'm not sure that she would anyway, even in an emergency. That Meat Loaf song 'I would do anything for love' must surely have been written with this procedure in mind.
  3. Take an empty Pringles tube in case you need a poo and it's raining so much that you can't get to the toilet block.
  4. I made a big batch of this stuff a few weeks ago and I'm really impressed. It definitely speeds up the amount of time it takes to clean the barrels of my shotguns. I don't know if this cleaner is actually any better/stronger than regular bore cleaner but it's just so cheap that you can use plenty of it and not worry about how much it's costing, or that you've got to buy some more. After using the Ed's Red I finish off with a light coating of gun oil, although the formula does contain a light oil in the form of the Auto Transmission Fluid. If anybody is interested, you can buy Acetone from Boots the chemist from behind the pharmacy counter. I'll never buy regular bore cleaner again!
  5. I've just bought a new Hatsan Escort semi-auto 20g youth for my eldest boy to shoot clays with. The chaps in the gun shop said I needed to break it in with some heavier loads. Is this correct? If so what is the advantage? Thanks.
  6. I just feel sad for the people - the dogs look ok.
  7. I'll be buying my wife a new wheel barrow, which will be handy for all sorts of uses like: moving rubble, bringing home the shopping from tesco and collecting me from the pub when I'm too drunk to walk home. She deserves the best so I'll make sure that I buy her a good quality make that will last for years.
  8. Hi, If anybody is looking to meet up and do a bit of clay shooting in and around Oxfordshire then get in touch. I've had my SGC for about a year now and am looking to meet up to make a bit of noise and hopefully hit a few clays. Weekends and some weekdays are possible for me. Cheers, J
  9. It was great to meet those of you who were able to make it today. Apologies for having to scoot off after the shoot and miss the pub - I had to collect my kids. All the best for xmas folks - perhaps another meet at the Crazy Bear in the early spring would be a good idea?
  10. Yes they do sell carts, usually 12g 28gram Rio's at £5 per 25.
  11. For those of you who are planning on coming along tomorrow, the weather forecast is perfect - sunny, dry, mild, with only a light wind. I'll get there before before 9.30am and will have PW signs in my car windows, plus my mobile number in case anybody gets there late.
  12. How about 9.30am in the field out the back of the Crazy Bear where they do the shoot - not the pub car park? I'm happy to get there a bit earlier and put a print-out of the Pigeon Watch logo in my car window (a beige Citroen Xsara Picasso).
  13. Great - sounds like the plan is the Crazy Bear followed by the event at the nearby Clay Shooting R Us for those interested. I’m looking forward to meeting some fellow shooters. I’m not sure about the pub option though - I’d feel anxious about leaving my gun in the car as I’m sure that the police wouldn't be impressed if it got stolen whilst I was inside enjoying a cheeky half. Out of interest, what do other people do with their guns if they’re going for food/drinks straight after a shoot?
  14. I'm easy, if people would rather meet at the ClayShooting R Us event on 16th Dec then I'm happy to go along too. I've been to the shop there a couple of times, but not to any of their events. There isn't a lot of parking space though - do they open up the field at the back for this? Also there isn't a lot of info about the event on their website, so shall we wait for more details then make a decision closer to the day about which would be a better shooting opportunity for a group? The ClayShooting R Us and the Crazy Bear sites are only 10-15 minutes away from each other in case anybody is wondering.
  15. This number should be fine, it's likely that not everybody will make it on the day anyway. There’s no need to book, we can just turn up. If it feels like too big a group to go round in a reasonable time then we could split into two and start off at different stands. Looking forward to meeting you all.
  16. Glad to hear that you chaps and Dave_B's wife are interested in meeting up - the 16th Dec is good for me too. I've been several times to the Crazy Bear shoot and because it's only on every other Sunday it can get quite busy if you go later on, so an early start might be better (it runs from 9.30am - 2.00pm). If anybody can't do the 16th then I tend to go along every other Sunday for 50 anyway. We'd need to work out how to identify ourselves as there will be plenty of other people with shotguns there too.
  17. Hello all, is anybody out there interested in meeting up one Sunday for the Crazy Bear clay shoot in Oxfordshire? http://crazybeargrou....uk/stadhampton I only started shooting clays this year, so don't worry there is very little chance of you being outshot! Regards.
  18. Try exporting then re-importing your bookmarks/favourites maybe?
  19. Also, if you click on 'view' at the top of the page you have the option to hide or show the bookmars bar.
  20. If you right click at the top of the page where the toolbar should be you get the option to 'customise toolbar'. From there it should give you the option to 'drag the default set to the toolbar'. If you click and hold on this, then drag it across to the Safari page to where the toolbar should be, it should be reinstated. Hope this helps.
  21. It means that the system file is corrupt and so the computer can't boot from the hard disk. If you have a copy of the operating sytem on CD/DVD then try booting the laptop up from that by holding down the C key after you power it up. The laptop will then boot from the disk you put in but will take longer than usual. After booting, run Disk Utility to try to repair your hard drive and fix the disk permissions. If the laptop still fails to boot up normally after this then you can connect it via Firewire or Ethernet to another Mac in 'target' mode and try to recover your pictures and files that way. I hope this helps.
  22. ...thanks for the advice all - it seems like Lanber or Lincoln would be worth me checking out then. Another question: is buying a used shotgun privately too risky an option for somebody who doesn't know what to look out for in terms of defects? Or are these things pretty fail safe? Thanks
  23. Hello all, I'm a long time, sub-12ftlb air gunner who lives in Oxford and has finally got round to having a clay shooting lesson at Barbury Shooting school near Swindon. Being used to taking my time and shooting paper targets, trying out a new shooting discipline which involved fast reactions and instinct was great fun. Last week I put in an application for a shotgun licence and am due to have a safe delivered next week. Not sure how long Thames Valley Police will take to process my application though... Any advice from you experienced clay shooters would be very welcome about what starter shotgun (£300 max) would be a good first purchase. Regards
