  12. The day started on the pigeons my cousin has been reccying the field all week and said there was a good few going in.. I started the day at about 2.00pm a good flight to the right produced a steady amount of birds all day ended up with 90 woodies and two crows.. Packed up at about 6.45pm nipped home swapped the shotgun for the .243 and out stalking... The rut is in full swing at the moment i had two cull bucks in the week on a different farm so i was confident of seeing a buck Gets to the ground and the a wind was wrong but i decided to continue i soon spot a buck couched up against the tree line but he winded me and stood up this is the master buck in this area and is not on the cull plan.. I gave him a call with the buttolo just to see his reaction but he just disappeared into trees but out to the left i notice movement and there was another buck racing towards me he got about a hundred yards and i dropped with a neck shot, a nice malforrm i was well pleased with that .. I quickly gralloched him and i thought i would have time to check the next field gets in posistion to glass the area and i pick up movement fox! Started to squeak him he got to about 150yards bang! down he went i was well happy with my day... Atb Lee
  13. Well done Tim those munters look as fat as butter mate reference the skinning my mate shot one on one of his bits of ground i could not believe how hard they were to skin. Ended up using a air line to get it off, mind it was an old buck though and yes a nice bit ground you have there... Atb Lee
  14. Went for a look up this new bit of ground, i have left it quiet for a couple of weeks so i was confident in seeing a few deer.. I took my son in law for a stalk im just showing the ropes for now.. We started to stalk along a tree plantation and bumped a real nice buck which leaving so he can do the business fotunatley he did'nt bark and disturb everything else.. I glassed the far bank towards the wood which has produced a few already and bingo i spotted what was a perfect cull buck which i have'nt seen before.. We had a about 300 yards to go before i could get to a good shooting position, finally got in range which was about 120 yards.. I think he sensed something was up as he was starring right at me and he was covered in folage after about five minutes which seemed like forever he turn broadside walked into a nice clearing and stopped bang and he dropped on the spot... A good result and i think the son in law got the bug. Atb Lee PS i no it looks like catching flies lol
  15. When it comes to head shooting deer some people will always get there soap boxes out if you shoot enough deer you will need at times to take head shots also neck and boiler room shots there all part of the stalkers armoury....(and they can all go wrong) Rifle shooting is all about confidence in yourself and your equipment, the deer was face on which is how i was shown how to head shoot deer.. The out come was a very dead deer i think a well done is the right response.... Atb Lee
  16. Well done Andy nice buck and really nice head on him... As you say there summer coat is really nice Atb Lee
  17. I decided to go four a ride round and see whats about one farm i shoot for had been hay cutting so ther was a good chance of a ginger.. Had a quick look in the cut field just a few crows mooching around so went sat in the truck in a small meadow field looking up at the main wood. This one my favorite spots on the farm produces alot deer and foxes... I thought to myself maybe give it a hour here then go back to hay field, there i was scanning the wood with the bino's i noticed movement to my left and then appeared out of nowhere this four pointer... Quick neck shot at about eighty yards and that was his end.. I will go back to cut field and have a look over the weekend with the lamp... Atb Lee.

  21. Shot this lttle beastie on the weekend he was with a mature buck that i bumped as i stalked through a run of paddocks and meadow... Unfortunatley for him he stopped and had second look back and i dropped him at about 130 yards.. Anyway a nice one for the barbie Atb Lee
  22. Thanks lads for your kind comments im really excited about this ground the first walkround i saw ten different bucks.... The ground is bordered by a 2oo acre ancient woodland and is packed with deer... I would of liked to be bit less ruthless but the owners want them culled hard and they really pleased with my efforts so far. Atb Lee
  23. Shot these big boys on a new piece of ground also saw to larger bucks on there. Shot another four cull bucks aswell the owners are well happy there goinig to be planting alot of trees in the future Atb Lee
  24. This sort thing does wind me up Charlie is correct they have gave you completely the wrong information your friend wants to invite you on his ground this has nothing to do with your licencing authority... The ground is cleared for your type of firearm thats it you are complying with your conditions on your ticket... I would be on the phone and complain Atb Lee
