cheers for the thought dougy. I am aware of that they dont seem to bother that dog of mine he is a hardy devil. Although i tend to only send him out to retrieve when i believe they are dead. Even if it takes a 2nd shot on the ground. But i do apreciate the coment.

Cheers Paul. Its always nice to get a few especially those big grey backs.

Congratulations, you are that someone lol. Yeah getting out is always better than sitting in the house.

Have been shooting clay targets this past few weeks so decided to hit the field for a change of scenery. A cattle farm not to far away to pick off some corvids. Pretty enjoyable day even though the bag was small.

lol i am far from an expert shot like the guys mentioned, but have been shooting in the field for around 15 years so i wouldn't say i am a novice either. However i am a novice to Trap shooting.

Stevo's trap gun has a high rib on it. mine doesn't. But in my opinion trap guns shoot slightly high anyway for (as you pointed out) rising targets. when you pattern a trap gun it should shoot roughly 70/30 high. So taking that in to consideration when i was aiming at the bird i kept the bead below the bird the whole way and pulled through as normal.

Yes i am aware of that, i usually use my semi auto. but just thought i would try something a little different seeing as it is a new gun.

After watching Stevo's great video of him shooting pigeons with a trap gun. I thought i would give it a try. Being new to trap shooting and purchasing a Browning GTI 32" fixed choke trap gun i thought i would see how i got on with it in the field. My plan was to finish work around 3 and then set up to decoy some crows, but with all good plans that didn't happen. Work ran on much longer than i expected. But not to be deterred i got home and decided to just take the dog out a walk and if anything presented itself then have a go. I managed 3 woodies for 3 shells which isn't a great test for using a trap gun in the field but i was happy enough. Any other fellow shooters ever use a trap gun in the field?

Great vid Stevo, and some fantastic shooting mate. I am new to trap shooting and have just purchased a wee browning GTI 32 inch fixed chokes fully adjustable, I plan on taking it for a go on the crows after work this evening to see how i get on with it. -
Cheers bakerboy. I suppose its a browning ya cant really go wrong with it. I shoot a browning semi auto for everything. But this last year i have been getting more and more into clay shooting and was advised to buy an over and under for clays. Seeing as its mostly dtl clays i thought a trap gun would suit better.

Cheers for the comment Gordon, This one is a trap gun, with the fixed choke and 32" barrels. I am being offered it for £600 which i think is a good deal but dont know enough or anything about them.

Hi knowledge base, Does anyone know much or anything about the Browning GTI with a silver action, it looks the same as the black with red lettering and the black with gold lettering except its silver. Is there any difference in them? I am being offered one which is 32" barrels fixed choke 3/4 and full with adjustable comb. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Joe

Fair play Dr D. Sounds like a very busy few days. Good shooting.
-
No worries pal, it wasnt taken as one . hahaha trust me they are, or they play dead better than anything i have ever seen lol
-
Cheers WelshMike, i am aware of this but the wee dog doesn't seem to be too bothered by them.
-
LOL No not on this occasion although when he takes the head staggers and doesn't listen to the commands I could be tempted lol

Couple of hours at a cattle farm today. They didn't want to decoy for whatever reason so they provided some testing shots jinking about. The strangest thing i found though was that when the dog was out picking up a bird in the decoys i managed to shoot another 2 as they came in squawking like made at the dog. Has anyone else ever experienced this.

yeah hes as keen as mustard

very good Ollie once again.
-
yeah it makes zero sense, but sure. Thanks mate, hes not bad for a brown lol

lol yeah i have a Honda CRV which is more than capable but for some odd reason the farmer dosn't allow anybody to drive over the fields. So not worth risking lossing the permission.
