  18. Called on a perm tonight to try and get Evin his first retrieve and boy did he impress We got there and straightaway the duck were flighting up and down the river we positioned ourselves on a corner of the feild where two rivers meet and up came the ducks Bang down goes the first but straight into the fast current the dog didnt even see it one lost Over comes another couple the dog watching intently Bang Bang down comes another this one the dog sees and without hessitation is in the river a good 25 yd swim and he picks his first ever duck his first ever water retrieve come to think of it his first ever retrieve (other than dummies in training) A short time passed then in come a couple more Bang down goes another and off Evin goes again very quick retrieve this time from about 30 yds in the river well done lad big treats and wait for more A little while later and Bang Bang down comes another this time going through the bottom of the trees on the far bank away goes the dog and back he comes with the duck in mouth The last one was an easy pick from the edge of the field but was still flapping another first for Evin the boy done me proud 15 months old from a rescue centre and ive had him only 4 months which I think makes this even more impressive A big well done to Evin
  19. Called back to a perm where there have been a lot of canadas feeding for the last week only to find the river had risen a little with todays rain,no geese but plenty of duck flighting coming in all directions but due to the current we had to pick our shots so the dog could mark the downed birds hitting the water, now bearing in mind he has only done dummy work so this was his first retrieve and he not only retrieved one he made three stunning retrieves complimented by my shooting companions as being difficult retrieves even for an experienced dog. He made me so proud and just goes to show what can be done even by a dog that I have only had for 4 months and came from a rescue centre he is now 15 months old and has his first four ducks under his belt yes four that was three from the river and one on the edge of the field that was still flapping so to say im over the moon doesnt come close great night great retrieves and the dog is now curled up with me on the couch
