  1. Thanks for the replies. Definitely going to give it a try !!! The Madeiran recipe looks great, looking forward to trying that one. Cheers
  2. Out on a shoot a while ago and one of the guns had a hip flask with rum and honey in it. Lovely drink!!! Wondered if any one had a recipe? How much honey to rum and do you have to make a honey syrup or do you warm the honey for it to mix properly? I can't ask the gun as he was a visitor.
  3. I bought a flapper from AA Decoys. Found them to be good to deal with. IMO really good product, so easy to use, lightweight and very effective most of the time. Like magnets they can sometimes seem to put birds off, but more often than not they pull birds in from a good distance. I would certainly prefer to carry one of these plus battery than a magnet and much bigger battery. I do use a magnet, mainly when I am setting up not too far from the car or where I can get access across fields with it.
  4. Being relatively new to PW I'm not sure if this has been covered before but here goes.... I've been making these recently because a friend had bought 3 cradles for £10 from a gun shop and the first time out one of them came apart at the welded joints. Soon afterwards the others followed suit. All it took was about 58" of fencing wire a couple of pairs of pliers and about 5 minutes to make them. We've tried them out shooting and they support a pigeon well and the pigeons don't seem to mind that they are home made and not shop bought ones. Just thought it might be useful to other members of PW.
  5. Really good informative video. Thanks for sharing.
  6. They were the best I ever used at the time for knocking crows out of the sky. Loved them.
  7. Normally I hit 2/4 sometimes 2/3. Went out yesterday and had a good session, shooting well for me!. What really brasses me off is when you hit some really good birds and even have a some right and lefts ( or over and unders ) and then you miss the real easy ones. If there is such a thing as an easy one. Why?
  8. Thanks for that Martin. He does have cattle in the sheds. He's been putting boards up at the troughs to try and keep them out. Expect the first visit to be hectic and after that to slow down a bit.
  9. Thanks for the comments. The farmer wants me to start off round the yard can you believe. Anything to please!!!
  10. Well, just got new permission for crow shooting at a nearby farm and was told, "you are more than welcome any time you want and as often you like, just as long as you shoot plenty". Music to my ears. I've not seen so many corvids around one farm in as long as I can remember. I just love shooting them too!! So, rang him last night to arrange to go today and was told, "this is just about the only day of the year when it's not a good day, we are silageing tomorrow and there will be too many tractors about" Was so looking forward to going, still only a couple of days to wait and after all I have got somewhere new to go.
  11. Thanks for posting these video's. I recently bought a Beretta 686 and found them very interesting and more than anything very useful.
