  1. Great day- well done m8! That's the farmer well on side aswell. Perfect. Have another good day
  2. 3 ply is good this time of year, in strong sun stealth nets can go a bit transparent so having a bit more concealment can go a long way
  3. Pete1dart- There's a big difference here m8! The original post states that the guy found a load of dead birds just laying around! Therefor as he could see them you have to presume you could pick them. That's the annoying part..... Maybe in certain circumstances when a farmer needs your help on standing crop it can be tricky to pick the birds but lets not forget the machines they use these days are that good they could pick a kipper up. On that note there's no way a person would cause more damage than birds left to just feed! A lot of them birds could of and should of been picked.
  4. Thanks TJ Have a fair amount of shooting in York but live quite a drive away so a little tricky seeing what's happening around there
  5. Anybody seeing any swathing-spraying/combining in and around York? Cheers
  6. Sad people shoot them and leave them, it's nothing more than laziness and a total disregard of life, shooting and country sports in general. People asking "what do you do with them all"? They know what to do with them but are to lazy to do so! Contact your local game dealer. They can't get enough of them, ask family friends and local pubs etc. wood pigeon is highly sort after and if you take time to ask around you will quickly find many people will take them. To have a great days shooting and then giving your super fresh produce to the local pub for there diners is a great thing. Or even try this! Cook them your self! They taste great #killitcookiteatit
  7. Love the feeling all together this time of year, cruising round the back lanes in the late afternoon sun watching the flight lines! Checking for laid crop's and second guessing when the combine will hit. In general trying to get a good feel for how the birds are ticking and giving myself the edge over the next shooter. I think at this time of year most of us are doing this, full of anticipation and just enjoying the moment.
  8. Lol.... This was the accumulation cost of trial and error m8! Mistake after mistake/ waste after waste!
  9. One day falcon I will either be in sporting gun for my dedication to the sport or the nut house hahaha! I'm thinking nut house pal lol
  10. Iv just won a £10 bet with my self lol... I new some one would say that so here it is. I don't produce them for people I don't sell them And I won't be touting for sales on here. I made them because I enjoyed it,
  11. Thanks, I put a lot of hours in on this and not to mention money lol- in fact your probably viewing one of the most expensive modern day pigeon decoy ever. Cost over a £1000 to make (nut's) I know but once I started I couldn't stop and with all the failed attempts the costs just racked up... I set off to make something like this as I was board of walking round game fairs viewing the same old **** & listening to the same old sales line, decoys that were the next best thing! Deadly etc etc. fact is most decoys in my view are made to decoy me & you rather than the birds lol... So again I set of looking to prove to myself you can make a decoy with great detail that looks as good from above as is does from the sides and front! (No short cuts) like fuds etc, now I'm not disagreeing they work but looking down on that particular decoy it's a totally odd shape. Why take that short cut on a decoy that looks awesome side on? Tbh 99% of decoys on our shop shelves are slack efforts that people bang into us in my opinion. There's a pretty well heard saying in our sport "you can't beat a dead bird" and no wonder with the half baked looks of the decoys we use so keeping that phrase in mind I thought why not make a decoy as good as a dead bird? Made sense to me anyway. Iv made this decoy using high detail photography, graphic designers and specialist printers. It's actually a washable sock you pull over your old decoys lol.... Kind of pimping ya old decoy! When it gets manky ya can get ya lass to put it in the washing machine haha I see this as a way of non directly getting them involved :0) iv made flying ones two but need sharpening up but it's kept my totally over active brain busy anyhow.... Righ!!!t glad iv got all that of me chest, I feel counciled and free of my obsession of this. Thanks for the compliments lads glad ya think iv made it look quite life like.
  12. Iv been a member a long time but had my email account hacked so had to change it! Iv seen this time and time again on here, what value did his comment bring to the post? Nothing! So let's have it right lads. If you have nothing good to help a post why bother? The post was childish and unhelpful on a very valid post. So take ya little lynch mod and go police other posts. I'm here for help not sarcasm! Just like the other numptys that go round policing people's spelling. Pathetic, ok the mans shot loads of pigeons! So there for has lots of experience, so read back and see what value he's brought to this post? Nothing at all.....
  13. Because that particular field is a strong growing field that has a perimeter of rape still at ankle height. My original post is referring to whole fields of threadbare crop! Like wheat, the birds ant yet hitting them but I was wanting to know as the crop ripens do these fields shoot well? Fact is not a lot of people have seen crops so poor! Easy for the birds to drop in in to. Fields of rape that are almost growing looking like they have been swathed... As they ripen do they shoot well? Easy! Instead of been a bell, try and assist! If you don't know then go help another post.
  14. We shot 76 over similar in Teesside! They were suicidal lol... 5:30 to 8:30. Sunshine shooting!!! Love it
  15. Farmers have had it bad in north east m8! Not good at all 4 em
  16. Worked on this for a long time, pretty proud of it. What do you guys think? Cheers
  17. What's people's thoughts on very poor growing feild's ? In my area there seems to be tons of feild's of rape and wheat that have grown so poorly they look threadbare! That bad it looks like a total waste of diesel to even try and combine it. I'm sure there's lots more like this in your areas? Seems that wet weather has played total havoc with the germination of the crop, iv been shooting for 6 years but never realy come across this! I've got a feeling these fields are going to produce some realy good shooting as the birds can get at it so easily. I can even see some of these feild's getting left to rot and just get turned in when the farmers done all other work. Any one else seeing this? Any of you old guns seen this in the past? What's your experience of it? Is this type of crop a hidden gem? Cheers
