  1. Sorry about that pressed the wrong button! I have heard that S/A are like cars, if you get one with problems, it always has problems. Well sorry, but if you pay almost a grand for a product, the least you can expect is that it works properly.
  2. I bought a Browning Maxus in October and it has jammed constantly, been back to Browning, returned Wednesday, fired it today and it was horrendous, 20 stoppages out of 75 cartridges put through it. I h
  3. They are lucky my misses is a practising witch! (Pagan.) Thirty five years ago I would not have minded her running naked around the garden, I would go so far as to say I would have been chasing her! Getting old is a bitch.
  4. Bought a new browning maxus in October, problem with jamming, sent it back to browning, fired it again and it jammed 20 times out of 70. I am sending it back to the dealer I bought it from asking him to replace it with a binelli premium plus they have on their gun list. As any one had problems with this gun, because to be honest, the browning was my first Auto and despite the write ups I read about it I was not impressed.
  5. Well it has just come back from browning. Took it to clay round to shoot skeet, first round fired lovely. Next to rounds jammed 20 times this time a different stoppage, cartridges not feeding into breach, jamming between bolt and loading gate, on two occasions the cartridges were jammed between the bolt and loading gate. What annoys me is surely browning must have test fired it before sending it back!!!! Sending it back to Avolon, who I will say have been great at dealing with this, asking for it to be replaced. Going to try the Benelli premium plus, I want an auto for pigeon shooting, anyone using that gun.
  6. Good advice, trouble is I have 225 left!!! Think I will be doing a lot of grovelling to swap with my o/u shooting mates. Lol.
  7. Fired Eley Olympics 28g 71/2 through it at chalk farm on Saturday, jammed straight away. Put 600 cartridges through it now and had more than 40 stoppages, all on Eley cartridges. The guys at Avalon say it should cycle 70mm carts easily. They are sending it back Browning for repair, "repair" I have only had it for three weeks! There must be a fault with it.
  8. Just got my SGC bought a Maxus. Lovely gun, really nice to shoot, had a few problems with it jamming, turned out to be a cartridge problem.
  9. If your last conviction was ten years old then you should be okay, look up the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act on the net, it should tell your exactly what if any pre cons would disqualify you. Like the advice the guys give on here, the worst thing you could do would not be to declare it, only takes the police seconds to check. Every one is entitled to make mistakes, good luck, hope you get.
  10. Cheers, never occurred to me to ask?
  11. I have just bought a new Browning Maxus. I am tall and have long arms and set the Lenght of pull so that the crease at the top of my finger trigger is in line with the trigger. Then mounted the gun ensuring the butt was pressed firmly against my cheek, using a mirror. I found that I could see the Lenght along all of the rib and the bead. I changed the shim lifting the stock, mounted the gun and found that I was looking along the rib at the bead, not nearly as much of the rib visible. If I close my left eye It spot on the the bead. I have been shooting skeet, I am consistently breaking 17 but am missing crossers on 3, 4 and 5 from the low house, every time. I suppose the answer is to shoot some patterns with it, trouble is I do not have access to land to do it.
  12. Now put 5 different brands of 28g cartridges through gun and it is functioning perfectly, though the Eley Pro Comps still jam. I suppose it could be Something about that particular batch the gun did not like, won't be using them again. Starting to really like the gun.
  13. Tim Kelly Yep, 70mm, all of them. She fired great on the 32g 6s. Great on the Eley Olympics, 71/2 but would not cycle the Eley match pros 71/2 with same weight, same length. All the same. Should that happen, or as I am hoping, it's the cartridges.
  14. Haven't got to the end of this thread yet, but so much for the alternate argument, freedom of speech, constructive debate, etc, etc, etc. On the positive side banning people's opinion is a bit like burning books, those that do it are on a loser! You have to ask yourself, if they are so strong with their principles (spelled right?) what are they afraid of?
