Is it where the Bubble and Squeak got it saying from I G ? , never heard any of my veg making a noise in the steamer  , but then again , my ole hearing isn't that sharp .    MM

It's when you chew it mate. No wonder vegans are so stroppy

I know what you mean. I occasionally get squeaks when eating things like runner or french beans but it tends to be fresh ones we grown ourselves and lightly cooked so not a bad sign. If you over cook veg then it doesn't squeak.

That's it, that's what I've been doing but boiled celery just doesn't do it with a nice lump of cheddar

How long have you been hearing the voices?

A year or two now. French beans. Celery, mangetout, squeaky little ********. Pureed beans isn't the same and I'm bored of mashed potato, help me doc

  4. I'm getting really peed off with all these veg that keep making a noise when I eat them, (plus that sort of sliding about.) I remember when you could bite a bit of celery and it wouldn't answer back. Anyone else noticed or is just my age.....or teeth

Not being funny but how can that possibly only be worth £195?  It looks lovely and I think the world of s/h guns had gone mad...

Maybe it's a good time to buy. All it's going to take is someone to invent a non toxic shot that's soft as lead with the price tag of steel😊

We will be using the stats for a range of audiences over the next few years to reinforce our arguments on the positive impact of shooting. The outcome will hopefully be convincing even more people of the benefits of shooting.

Thanks Conor it certainly looks like someone has put in the hours. The evidence for country sports certainly outweighs those against. For me an emphasis on environmental enhancement would be the point winner over the next few years

BASC has published its inaugural assessment of the natural capital benefits of shooting in the UK.

Natural capital is the sum of financial and social benefits we get from our natural environment. The concept has increasingly shaped both international and national environmental policies. It is at the core of the government’s England Environmental Improvement Plan and the forthcoming equivalent in Scotland.

BASC’s natural capital benefits of shooting report, compiled in 2023 in partnership with the Economics for the Environment Consultancy and Strutt & Parker, sets out the recreational value of UK shooting, alongside other benefits for society and the environment.

The report provides UK-wide and home country values under four overarching groups of benefits:

    • Carbon sequestration – valued at £382 million
    • Public health savings – valued at £64 million
    • Recreation – valued at £607 million
    • Food and forestry – valued at £100 million

Combined together, the benefits are in excess of £1.1 billion per annum.

    More information here:

    https://basc.org.uk/research/natural-capital/

The Telegraph headlined on the BASC commissioned report last week on the £64 million annual saving to the NHS that recreational shooting provides. This is made up of physical health benefits (£20m), and mental health benefits (£6.7m) for people involved in shooting. There is an additional benefit (£37.6m) from air pollutants removed by woodland created and managed for shooting.

That's impressive, what do you think/hope will be the outcome

Ok, that's the coolest work-related post on this thread so far, but you might not have thought so at the time!

Obviously @Scully and @39TDS's shenanigans are deserving of prizes for expert swordsmanship.  Personally I was 2 years old, so presumably struggling to master the potty and basic speech (still struggling with both if I'm honest).

If this thread was about 2004, though, I'm sure I too would be exercising the forum swear filter with my own tales of horizontal refreshment.

Brilliant, two expressions I had never heard [sheltered life] swordsmanship and horizontal refreshment definitely be using those in my memoirs😁

Could be a general political wet dream?

"It denotes an attitude and a brutal policy of draconian control by propaganda, surveillance, disinformation, denial of truth (doublethink), and manipulation of the past, including the "unperson"—a person whose past existence is expunged from the public record and memory, practised by modern repressive governments."

    What are your thoughts?

2024. he just got the dates wrong

Am busy creating work for the up and coming Borders Art Fair in Kelso next month.
It is a seriously good art fair with around 100 professional artists and galleries displaying work.
I really like this town and we look forward to staying there each year. We stay at Ednam House and have breakfast overlooking the Tweed. 👍
Anyhow, this is one of several acrylics I’ll be displaying.

I know I mentioned we’d be going to Venice, but was sworn to secrecy as to why.
Anyhow, the secrecy is no more, and we’ll be exhibiting in the 2024 Venice Biennale, at Palazzo Bembo, opposite Rialto Bridge.
This is a major International Arts venue and exhibition, and our work ( OH and me plus others ) will be there from April until November.
    A BIGGY! 🙂👍

Wow, that's truly fantastic. How long will you be in Italy. Better get the Duolingo out. Well done, great news

Guys, bit of a moaning post!

Ive been very slack going out and getting anything done country sports wise fishing or shooting for around 4 years. Used to do a lot more because of an old job, now one main permission is now gone and I'm left feeling like the others I've got are just about hanging on.

Is there anything anyone has done to get the bug back and get out and gain some new permission? Ive got the SGC, FAC and Insurance etc, should i be out there knocking on doors and offering mole trapping or helping out elsewhere etc?

Fishing wise its just EVERY weekend with the rain! ridiculous! Is anyone out there still bashing away for any results?

Buy another gun and wait for better weather for the fishing, its what im doing
