shes 3 this week
dont know if going right back to basics can help with this except of course stop whistle , shes had plenty of birds flushed over her in the last 3 seasons and have shot over her ( pigeons ) too , she was 1st out at 14 months .
i,ll just have to glue her ar*e to the floor a bit better

i need a bit of training advice
my springer bitch , was a *** on saturday .
during the last 2 drives she decieded to chase birds in the sky flying overhead.
i was blanking off a cover crop when there was a big flush with birds over head .
i happened to be on the radio and did,nt see her go , she just could,nt help her self and away she went , i didnt notice until she was 40 yards behind me running towards the guns
got her back and bo**ocked her big style
.
next drive she did the same again and managed to reach a downed bird and retrieve it , i was embaressed and fuming but i could,nt do anything because she had bought the bird back , after that she went on the lead..
now shes always watched the skys but as never ever shown any inclination to chase airborn birds. normally she will sit and look or maybe fidghit about a bit
is there anything i can do ??
thanks

he's looking good mate , what you feeding him on .
i called his sister Ruby in the end , shes doing ok , confidence is building , sit , stay and recall coming along
she absoloutly hates the lead
though , but theres plenty of time yet.
was out with madspringer beating at weekend , with the mum jaz and the sister (3 legged one) gyp , brilliant dogs , i,m only hoping some of that as rubbed off on ruby ...

not as of yet, i think it could of been something he has drank when working the cover as it was very wet in one patch even tho he was told not to he still did it
mate i am gutted for you
its no age especially if theres no apparent cause , but if it was the above the animal health trust would like to know as they are trying to put an investigation into place.
its getting scarey now , i,m out every week beating and the dogs will drink from almost anywhere i have to watch them like a hawk and it seems to be getting worse every year.
take care

She listened to it lungs ect all ok breathing a little fast got a temp she is started rasping again but hopefully I'll get some sleep she has slept most of today she had scrambled egg for tea .
Another thing mentioned when we was on the moor she got soaked she beat through streams & water ponds she was soaked then in beaters wagon off the moor then home lesson to me is carry a towel dry her off end of day .
I normally put her on the lead between beats but with her pulling she always got red eyes so this weekend I let her roam between thus she never stopped working all day.
Dunno if I will beat this moor again don't know what's best
get it a toweling coat mate , i got a thermo cell from pets at home around £15 , i stick it on her when we finish beating if shes wet through .
it soaks up very well , keeps her warm and dry , shes prone to cold water tail as it is.
some of the chaps laugh at me for this , but who cares , nowt worse than being wet and cold

repairing tyres
hi guys -- i,m wondering can a tyre be repaired if punctured these days

but
i,m not sure if the laws have changed these days
thanks

i know its cheap , but i,m just wondering if any one here feeds it to there dogs.
i was feeding skinners duck n rice , but dogs seem to have gone off it a bit , plus became a bit loose.
then tried F T maintanance but again little loose.
tried some unbranded stuff ( manufactured in uk , by Welham estates , doncaster ) and poo was ok , in fact very dry and little smell.
anyway
cant get that local now , so looking around again and notice gusto as a similar ingriedient label
anybody use it
thanks

ZOO - that brings back memories , i remember going there with my dad when i was a kid , anyone remember what it was called

best advice -- make your mind up first , actually what you want from a dog , before you start to look at breeds/types
i may be wrong but i dont think Dave lisset (Buccleugh) does/breeds cockers , but of course Ian openshaw definately does and i,ve seen them work brilliantly in his hands.

whats your thoughts on this
with the lastest spate of ill and dying dogs supposedly caused by blue/green algae, why arent DEFRA or other veternary orgs trying to find the cause

Apache -- 2. give a Milbemax tablet every month
is milbemax any good to give as a precaution , ie for regular worming as well as lung worm
not too many dogs where i excercise but plenty of fox cr*p around paddocks
how big is the risk coming from fox cr*p to dogs and horses too
thanks
