the dog seems fine and the wound or scar is healing nicely.
i still put her collar on at night as a precaution in case she tried to nibble at it although her stitches are out, but to be honest apart from her rehab she seems like normal.
although she is nibbleing and biting her feet like crazy , till they are red , dont know what the cause of this is .
where not back at the ortho vet till next monday
i,m not sure what to do , wether to seek another opinion from another vet or wait
i just hope with the infection the metal plate and screws will not be rejected

thanks guys the lab report i have reads:-
resistant to all these antibiotics :-
penicillin
gentamicin
enrofloxacin
marbofloxacin
erythromycin
clindamycin
tetracycline
potentiated sulphonamides
ampicillin
amoxycillin
cephalexin
is there any antibiotic that would work to kill it off

my younger springer bitch as had her other cruciate operation done now , it finally snapped a few months ago.
shes had another TTO with steel plate and screws
what a nightmare its been , stitches have come out yesterday , but shes got some sort of infection that antibiotics are,nt touching.
the vet took a swab and it came back as MRSP -- methicillin resistant staphylococcus pseudintermedius.
any one had dealings with this before
thank you

what rust killers are available these days.
looked in loads of DIY places and all they sell is hammerite , but that doesnt kill rust ( does it ) just stops it from spreading.
got a few patches of rust and the usual wheel arches on my wifes landy i need to sort out.
any ideas
thanks

Glad someone as brought this subject up again
my bitch is same but shes 2 1/2 now and as two seasons experience , i taught her to quarter fairly well and she would turn on 2 pips and change direction ( but never that close ) .
but now after mainly walking on straight foot paths / lanes etc for a while she does the same as yours mate , goes out hunts too far away about 20-ish yards .
even if i,m in a crop she,ll rather follow the tram lines than work from side to side , so i,m for ever piping her back to turn her , so shes sort of like going backwards and forwards in stead of across left to right as we walk more open spaces.
my fault i think :( as early on in training i did too many long retrieves with , training her to get out and pick up etc.
i would like her to hunt a tightpattern in front of me and across me , without having to use the whistle so much.
So anymore tips on this would be greatful

this happened to me a few years ago .
i was out walking some scrub land with my border collie bitch under control , another dog comes running over and starts to pester her etc for a good 5 mins while i,m waiting for the usless owner to restrain it , i shouted the owner to get the ******* dog away from her and pushed it away with my boot several times , she got so fed up she turned round and ripped its jowls off one side of its faces , there was blood ever where , i was shocked , but not as shocked as the other dog and owner..
there was some very heated words etc , but nothing came of it , in fact i dont blame her , she was protecting herself.

i use a very good vet now , just a small practice in a local village and i have to say they are brilliant
.
i,ve been useing them for about 11 years now and have never felt ripped off .
i,ve used other vets during the last 30 years of owning dogs , but usually a bigger company / concern and to be honest the quality of customer service just was'nt there.
the worse one i ever used was **** 4 **** , really let me down and mistreated my black lab ( jack ) , he came back to me with a broken tooth ( which was not spotted on inspection ) and foot bandaged so tight his toe nail was embedded into his foot when the bandage came off causing an ulcer and more lamness .
from then it went from bad to worse and was eventually PTS because of the pain .
Anyway what i,m trying to say is shop around and if not happy just one little bit then change practices..

If you want a hard, close hunting dog it starts with training from 8 weeks IMO. It is all based around the dog having its hunting rewarded by hunting close to you and there are many varied and successful methods to achieve that. The nature and drive of the dog play a big part, but the minute the dog realises it can get further and further away from you and find more and more good things, or it is allowed to free hunt and self reward on a "walk" you are on a slippery slope to losing control.
just seen these replys to my thread started a month a so back.
thanks guys - MAD you,ve said this to me before if i remember rightly
shes 2 1/2 just over ,and have tried it in the past with a tennis ball , but the damn tennis ball just makes her hyper .
think i,ll get back on it again or is it too late , OR can you think of another way
thanks
