  1. Ok thanks. So the spade bit....to dig the ferret out or the bunny?? LOL, no really? I had seen bits about locators so a bit of research required there and a bit of time looking for videos I think is in order. With regard to their social groups, can you just have jacks or do they fight? Also when working with a ferret is it considered 'pc' in line with land management or has/is it out of favour similarly to rabbit coursing and alike. Need to read the hunting act as well me thinks.....
  2. Hi All, Hopefully this will be in the right section, if not can a mod please throw me in the right direction :-). I am fancying something different and like the sound of having a ferret, ooer missus. Ideally I want a pet for the GF and daughter who are both into furry things and then something I can do work with. I trawled through the archives and didnt get far so hoped there would be a keen ferreter on here to help. Feel free to chuck as much information at me as you like. For example; do they need to be worked under licence training upkeep equipment tips, tricks & how to's etc etc ideal living environment, size, how rugged to live oudoors etc etc. Seems alien to me at the minute letting a nutty ferret scamper off that more than likely doesnt know its name, or that is has one, and is wondering what you are whistling about while it goes to work. Am I being too rose tinted with the idea? Putting it to work isnt the be all and end all for me but could be a new attachement to my PCP shooting hobby. I did see an ooooold post about ferreting experience outings which fizzled so was wondering is there someone local ish or within a reasonable drive to show me what its all about. Thanks Leigh
  3. If only you were closer as just started looking for ferrets :-(
  4. Found nothing exciting really. All I can see is drop the trigger assembly off, ping the ball bearing across the room and then the assembly is in your hand. Saw one picture that shows a few retaining dowel pins to remove to drop the trigger blade etc out of the housing but no exploded parts diagrams our similar. Doesn't look too bad from that one pic I saw.....famous last words
  5. Typical, had only skipped through it and saw he was near doing something with the trigger so naturally thought bingo. I will dig some more.
  6. Had a quick google, not sure if this helps... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2esJn9Sg8lc
  7. pretty sure I saw it this afternoon while checking for new content. Guessing its disappeared out of your content tab on your profile as well?
  8. Had a springer for many years, went to a Gamo Whisper igt and was a pain to shoot on target reliably. Now on a pcp setup I wouldn't ever go back as they are easy to shoot and look after. Budget is always a consideration and pcp has the draw back of needing pumps/bottles but then you do get 50+ shots out of a fill. I wasn't sure and almost bought a BSA lightening xl as had convinced myself I needed to be self sufficient in the field with a cock and shoot approach. I'm glad I was lured into the pcp world. Gas ram have good servicing intervals with the gas unit lasting some 100k cycles iirc.
  9. It does look very outgoing model ultra esque, (receiver, barrel setup etc) with a less aggressive stock pattern.. Have you considered a Hatsan at44-10 pcp, similar price bracket? Cant recommend one enough, apart from the length of the beastie. Shoots straight as you like, good warranty support from Edgar Brothers and getting 50+ shots out of the 180cc 190Bar optimum fill in .22 trim @ 11.3-11.74ftlb. Bought mine without a scope as had one already and came with a moderator which is super quiet. Just need to deping it and its perfect for me. Moved from the Gamo whisper igt to this Hatsan as BSA were a bit slow to fix things and the Gamo catastrophically failed 5mths in after its second warranty repair. Enough said about that, but if this rifle is more BSA than Gamo it could be a winner. If this helps buying a Hatsan though review is of an older model though at first glance they seem the same to the 2013 model which has adjustable cheek, single barrel support etc...; http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/buy-gun-guide/best-3-air-rifles-pcp-review-20898
  10. Not quite the same beastie but my hatsan pcp came with swivels fitted and they are just self tappers into the synthetic stock and as mentioned pilot drilled as to not fubar the stock. Holding its own and not pulled the screws yet......
  11. Speaking from experience with two warranty returns and slow experience with bsa who handle gamo issues I would pick the hatsan. I had the gamo whisper igt .22 which was taken back by bsa for a full refund after 5mths and now have a hatsan at44-10 which is great.
  12. Another easy solution to exploit fossil fuels and delay the inevitable. They will run out, peoples lives will be affected and no doubt an alternative still wont be in place for them when supplies run out. Im all for renewables but to date their efficiencies and costs to implement are a draw back. Someone somewhere is always hampering technological advancements for obvious reasons. Just need to look at hydrogen celled cars announced some 12yrs ago iirc, Not a fan of dependancy and exploitation of the countries resources especially when the nation hasn't been asked and people are being affected. As has been mentioned, uninsurable risk properties and the fear of the unknown quantity that is Fracking and the impact it can/could present. Scaremongering has been mentioned, the government are just as bad as the antifrack groups. There is ways a bias to promote a line of thought whichever side of the argument but to what end and who is deemed the 'most right'
  13. please excuse the typos, phone doesn't like Fracking either and prefers tracking lol
  14. would have been a novel experience if the government listened the the growing concern of the population against tracking. It seems to be any easy solution and of course profitable. Fracking doesn't currently affect me and even if it did, would I be heard or merely dismissed for the greater good?? I signed the antifracking petition from Greenpeace and its fallen on deaf ears. Embrace the future I think not, more so the inevitable be it welcome or not. Shame.
  15. Sounds a bit rubbish selling the gear and not having the facility to recharge. If you were closer you could borrow mine. My local gunshop cant do enough to help with after sales, free fill ups while I bought my bottle from him etc etc. Shameless plug for Chris @ Broadway Gun Room. Checked the map and Im 44miles away from Wolves but if you're ever in the Evesham area.....

    Yew Tree

whittle yourself some bows.... Not the most sensible solution I know but all I keep hearing I should do with my yew tree.....
  17. the f number is the size of the aperture which is measured back to front to common sense. Small number, ie f1.6 is a large opening and f22 is small. So for night work a large aperture is preferred to gather as much light as possible. Adjustable might be preferred depending on ambient light/moon light pollution. This reminds me.....I need a night rig for my pcp :-) I should've typed faster lol. as just noticed falcons reply after I posted.
  18. Thanks for that idea, didnt think of them tbh. Twiddling my thumbs now so more avenues to explore the better. Need to adjust notification settings again so I can see replies as they arrive. Thought it was done....obviously not :-\
  19. Thanks for the leads. I've seen the club but thought I would try really locally, living in Sedgeberrow and surrounded by land...no luck yet. I have to admit I haven't seen the mansion when at Tesco. I will keep my eyes peeled now though! I am itching to go out shooting while the weather is....unpredictable lol.
  20. Hi, I am new to the area and am looking for my first permission. Anything on the general licence and the usual hairy pesky critters wanted. My services are free and I am a keen sporting shooter who has been shooting either in the armed forces or with my air rifles. Currently using a moderated pcp .22 rifle so I go unnoticed. I consider myself to be a considerate and courteous individual and would treat the permission with the utmost respect. Insured as is to be expected. More than happy to come around and introduce myself and go from there. Thanks Leigh
