  1. Totally valid comment and it would be the case up till about 8 months ago when my farmer decided to let his colleague run paid shooting days. I only have special permission for myself as been going so long so things are not all ways as selfish as they seem.
  2. Thank you, my permission on mersea is okay to keep me going normally but believe it or not there are only rabbits on east mersea and none on west. The main fields for them are all rape at moment and mild weather has let it shoot up well above bunny height so very awkward and not worth the trip to be honest. Hopefully some heavy frost come soon and shrink it down a bit!.
  3. Anyone wanting a hand with rabbits in essex (chelmsford/colchester surroundings) please let me know. Experienced shot with open fac using 22lr. Most of my permission is rape at moment and grown so fast with mild autumn it's to high to be practical at the moment.
  4. I assume some people may target shoot so want supplies of solid and hunt as well and need expanding as well.
  5. That's where my 750 in possession and amount to buy at once is 500 seems sensible. I can buy a brick of them (500) whilst still having 250 in reserve but can't lawfully build up large stash of them.
  6. Believe the ultrafire are not fitted with aspherical lens. There is a forum somewhere on here about modifying them. I put aspherical lens in my red ultrafire and its trebled range by making beam tighter. Also you need to make sure you use the more powerfull 3.7v rechargeable batteries with all these cree style torches as a aa size 1.5v will fit many but power greatly reduced.
  7. My essex police fac states I can hold 750 exp and 750 solid. I can purchase 500 of each at once. So I can hold a total of 1500 rounds and buy a maximum of 1000 (500 of each). This was clarified by my fao last renewal about 18 months ago. It may have recently changed because it was more economical to buy a brick of 500 but that is no longer deemed a good reason for that amount. And no I do not have target shooting on my fac and never have done. You learn something new every day though as I did not know you could have more than one rifle of the same caliber on a fac.
  8. Hi there, looking for some rabbit shooting in essex particularly chelmsford/ braintree/witham/Maldon and colchester area. Experienced, fully insured and open f.a.c holder with .22lr. Evenings/weekdays not a problem. One offs to get overrun areas back under control or regular visits (found once every 2-3 weeks optimum to stop them wising up to be most effective) would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time to read this post.
  9. It's a shame the herts and essex shooting association have these rules as they are closest to me.
  10. Sorry guys my **** of a son in law wrote in my post for a laugh!
  11. Fair point figgy, I did go on a bit and not very good explaining it but fister explained it pretty well I thought. As far as not rocket science goes it depends what level you want to take it too. I have seen people weighing every round ringing the changes, produce charts and graphs had booklets to shoot with and scope covers with all there calculations on. I have also seen people , one old keeper in particular where windage is a bit to the left or right and elevation is up and down...but he drops foxes, rabbits and the like as well as anyone.
  12. Hi I don't know what make/ type of batteries come with a1 flappers so cant advise but if they are lead acid and 1.2ah then you need a charger no higher than 1200 milliamps for optimum battery life.
  13. Could have swore in my original post "mil dots and bullet trajectories confusing" ! Please take this post as intended, a tried and tested simple method for zeroing a scope for various ranges. Any input to help explain is welcome but please bear in mind it's not for experienced people in the know who could cloud what I am trying to do.
  14. Spot on fister but I was trying to stay away from words like focal plane and stadia as most just starting out wont have a clue and never need to.
  15. Sorry no, am using my kindle so would not know where to start!. Basically aiming at same point all the time, as target moves further away the bullet drops more. At 100 yards the group will be lower and keeping center of cross hairs on aim Mark adjust zoom till top of duplex is in center of the group shot at 100 yards. If you then take a 100 yard shot you use the duplex as aiming point.
  16. This is an old tip I used many years ago and aimed (pardon the pun ) for people New to 22lr when using mil dots and bullet trajectories etc all seem a bit confusing and you just want a simple way to aim. It assumes you have a basic scope with variable magnification and a duplex reticule. Firstly after finding best ammo for your rifle start from a fixed stable position and zero at 50 yards then without moving rifle move same target out to 100 yards. Aim at exactly the same point from the same position as 50 and fire 5-6 shots. The group will be larger and lower from your 50 yard group. You then again without moving rifle and aiming at same spot adjust magnification until the top of the bottom duplex post is in center of 100 yard group. You can now take a 50 yard shot in center 75 in between the two and 100 yard with top of duplex. Make note of where your magnification is set or lock it there with tape because if you keep zooming in and out all the time it will hinder your range estimation through scope. As I said it is basic but has served me well for years and still today and hope it helps somebody out.
  17. I have, many times not really necessary though Imo!.
  18. No but you get more than enough movement for minor adjustment as long as you point it in right direction. Tilting a swiveling are more for a tank turret imo. It was plenty stable for six shot group or should I say one ragged hole at sixty yards.
  19. Just in case anyone's interested in buying a bipod but don't want to pay silly money for a name I got a cvlife 9-13 from Amazon for £20. And am very impressed so far every bit as good as ones three times the price so far.....
  20. Bless you, I hope I'm still shooting at your age. Why don't you get a few more magazines and bribe a younger family member to load them for you
  21. I will keep an eye out for it. As far as rounds go anything I can't use straight out box and have to clean/ wipe down before use can stay in the shops!.
  22. Thanks mate, I Don't think I have seen sk in my local shop. What do you mean by cleaning off the muck?.
  23. Used box today side by side cci and winchester. No problems extracting after shot and very good grouping, far better than winchester and very slightly better than cci. They are now my first choice with cci back up. Anyone want to swap two new boxes of winchester subs for eley or cci subs?.
