  1. Good job there mate, nicely done
  2. ...just because I have a bigger and better man bag collection...jealousy isnt a good trait
  3. Cheers Mark......I have approval from the better half so looks like I will be getting a nice pressie soon. My spotting was so fantastic I should be entitled to 1/2 of that Nicely done Ed
  4. Dont you start You forgot to mention fox 4. No 4 had a nasty would across his forehead. This was healing well but had made a bit of a mess....but no RSPCA releases as far as I could see. I was only spotting so no credit is due to me for the demise of the 4. I spotted some suspect thermal through an old tree as well..turned out to be a heron perching in the tree, it must have had a shock when fox no 1 copped a couple of rounds lol
  5. Nicely done mate. Cheers buddy. Racing snake failed to mention that I bribed him to be nice..he mentioned something about me being a feral inbred who lived in a cave...couldnt disagree
  6. always glad to hear that we are keeping people interested. There is a lot of bullying that goes on within Foxclub that is becoming a real issue...well an issue for me as its all directed my way ...jealousy I reckon Nice one Mark, good start to 2019 for you mate
  7. What can I add to the above really... Well ... as mentioned above the fear about meeting somebody you havent met before was quickly dispelled when I met up with Stu, a top bloke. As can be seen by the very nice comments above I was on my best behaviour though I lost points for not taking a man bag. There was so much disappointment in the air I had to try and do my best with the spotter. The thermal is great and I quickly got used to it after I got a perspective of the ground and range. I got a little confused by a heat signature in amongst some tress...the tress turned out to be very small trees and it was a rabbit lol. As we headed out to the first spot I was like a ninja getting over a fence...a big fat clumsy ninja so no wonder we didnt see anything After fox no 1 I was marched up to the top of the mountain....steep is an understatement and I am reasonably fit. The ground is stunning and the crisp night made it a great night to be out and about. All in all a cracking night, great company and 4 foxes down, cant ask for more then that. Stu was a great laugh and a good shot..an absolute top bloke. CHEERS BUDDY
  8. Best get saving mate Still letting the side down gents....dogs calling, never seen and wouldnt come to the call I am going for a fox shooting lesson tonight so hopefully I can learn something
  9. What a cracking bit of sport, well done
  10. Nicely done mate, lovely looking rifle. Grant is the man when it comes to shooting trips.
  11. Im letting the side down by the look of it. Out Sat night. 2 farms .... Spent an hour trying to call a dog out of the one wood...played the vixen call ..he barked back and on it went...didnt even see him so gave up Farm 2 ..much the same though I caught glimpse of the fox for about 1 second Went home annoyed lol
  12. love you to mate Nice one Mark, well done buddy Nicely done as usual Outstanding as always.
  13. Cheeky swine lol Thanks for the kind offer, I live about 5 miles from Lake Vyrnwy, bit out of the way from Ponterwyd with the way that you would travel up I imagine . I am pretty sure I will be ordering one very soon though, looked at lots of vids and reviews and if there good enough for the 2 ronnies (Grant and Ed) there to good for me If you are ever up this way feel free to pop in for a brew. PM me and I ll let you have the address. Out with a friend who is just getting into centerfires tomorrow night..and apart from that ... guess what? Yep...more ******g building work
  14. At least you had the vixen so a good bit of work done with her. Sure you will catch up with the dog soon. Looks like the thermal is paying dividends already. Hoping the birthday fairy will be sorting one out for me shortly.
  15. Glad to hear it mate. Good job mate. Well done mate, big old lump (the fox that is )
  16. Good suggestion mate. Shall we opt for 2020 just to be safe?
  17. Tidy job as always buddy. Are you fully fighting fit again? Cheers Mark. I am not surprised that they are shy when you are about mate...the ones that arent are all dead bud Mansion wise....i bloody hope it will be finished as I am to skinny to have many more days without heating.
  18. Managed a few trips out over the last couple of weeks. A good bit of pairing up, calling and foxes chasing one another round has been witnessed. Shot another vixen on one of my fields but didnt get a pic of her. I have shot 13 on 28 acres this year and havent made much of an effort really...unreal. All 4 of the above were shot on 1 farm over 2 nights. All came in really well to the caller with vixen, dog and gekkering playing and presented sensible sub 100 yard shots so nice and easy. I had another go on new years eve and just as I was getting to where a dog was calling...the words biggest firework was let off in the village half mile away...lit up the area, deafened me and scared off all the wildlife lol...off home. Still seem to be a few to be going at. Total for 2018 was not great ...not been that organised with the count but reckon somewhere in the low to mid 40s. Not bad since some of the fox club members thought I had retired
  19. Happy New Year gents. When I get 5 mins I ll download some pics and try and remember what I shot and where Mansion is looking great...I am going for a cave theme...no plaster...oh and we discovered a load of rotten timbers in the roof so that needs to come off in the next 6 weeks....have to love being landed gentry
  20. Tidy job and nice and easy. Well done. Makes up for those 5 hour stints up the tower
  21. Well done mate. Totally agree ref calling, either have no effect or a very quick one. I try for 5-10 mins then move on to another spot as I dont have the patience to stay and call for hours on end.
  22. Back out last night. Nice cold night but the ground is shockingly wet so it was a bit of a muddy old wander. I decided to have a look on a 400 acre piece of ground I havent been on for 3 or 4 months. First stop brought nothing in. Headed over to the other side of the farm and set the caller up with a mix of vixen, dog and gekkering calls going. I picked up a flash of eyes in the next field across from me so got set up behind the rifle, NV on and picked up the fox. She was in next doors field but another blast of the gekkering and she obligingly jumped through the netting and trotted about 5 yards before being met with a 58 grain .243 BT round. Through the chest and out through her guts hence the slight mess.
  23. Nicely done mate. The ground is so wet and slippery it is not much fun getting out and about.
