  1. Hi I'm looking for someone in the south Wiltshire area that is willing to take out a novice pigeon shooter, I've been shooting air rifles for 10 years but only recently acquired my shot gun and firearms cert. I am fully insured through BASC and a very responsible shooter all rules will be strictly obayed. I have my own gun and all my own gear (all be it basic) I just don't have the land to go on. I know this is a long shot but I've been trying for 2 years to find some permission but to no avail and I'm really desperate to have a day on the pigeons. Thank you Billy
  2. They have them in the countryman of Derby for £166 for 1000.Thinking of getting 500
  3. I think that one will be a long time coming yet but I'll keep trying Thank you
  4. Well I'm after an insight in to the limitless experience and knowledge of PW. I've been looking for a cheap load for pigeons and want to know what people think of this load I.e how it preforms, knock down power as I've heard mix opinions of them. Also wether it would be a suitable load for crows Any advice would be welcomed
  5. That was my intention but my but I was loosing the fight with my bed this morning lol
  6. Well today I when out for my first day decoying crows (that's first No1). I've been keeping a eye on a field and there is a flight line that crosses it every morning to a pig farm and hundreds of crows on every evening before they go back the there roost, so I thought that I would get there at half 7 this morning to catch the morning commute but they were earlier than expected and I missed the main body. I sat it out and the going was slow I was there for 8 hours and only managed 8 crows!!! Mostly down to me missing BUT I got my first pigeon (first No2). Any way the hundreds of crows that I had seen every day never showed so I thought I would pack up and change to shooting them off a flight line as they come off the pig farm, and it was a good decision as in the last hour of light I managed to bag another 7 crows and another pigeon talking me to 17 in total so my first double figure bag (first No3) most of them first shot kills so I think on getting the hang of it now plus I got my first double (first No4) so all in all a very enjoyable day
  7. Hi all, I have recently got a shotgun and I'm looking for permission or someone who could do with a hand/shooting buddy in Wiltshire/ Hampshire. I'm 21yrs old very responsible I have full insurance with BASC will always tidy up after myself and respect all rules, livestock and boundaries. If anyone knows of anyone that has land or needs someone to give them a hand please let me know Thank you Billy
  8. hopefully they should be use to loud bangs as it a military training area and at the other side of the permission is a rough shoot
  9. I was thinking about that actually as the houses are at an angle so one side goes into open field I might just have to have a play with the decoys
  10. thank you thought it would be ok but I thought I would ask to make sure
  11. hello all, sorry if this has been covered before, I'm hoping to do some crow shooting over next week as I have seen the there numbers building on one of my permissions, the problem lies that where the crows are feeding the only place where I could put I hide is facing towards a row of houses they are a good 5/600m away but as I'm new to the sport and this will be my first outing on live quarry with a shotgun I'm unsure of the safe distance. the cartridge I will be using is 32g 5's thanks in advance for the help billy
  12. yes I am and i've had a look and it seem a good course thank you, but unfortunately ant the minute my shooting budget is tight (as dictated by the wife) and im trying to save for my own gun so was just hoping someone could help in the mean time.
  13. what are peoples thoughts on these as a first gun for rough and clay shooting. I'm asking as i'm on a budget and desperate to get a gun thanks in advance for you advise. billy
  14. hi all, I feel really cheeky asking this but here goes.... I'm hoping to find someone around the Salisbury area or within a hour or so drive from there that is willing to take out a newbie with them. I'm not looking to shoot as A) I don't have I shotgun yet and B) I'm just wanting to learn what I can about hide placement, setting up the hide, decoy patterns etc. I am willing to do all the humping and dumping of kit and equipment, helping with the setting up and clean up afterwards. I know this is a long shot but I really want to learn from an experienced pigeon shooter to get the best start I can. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
  15. I only ask as I don't yet have my FAC yet and was woundering what caliber a I could apply for on it I'm only after 22lr and 17 hmr and I know of another person that has permission and uses a 17 hmr on the land but he has an open ticket
  16. Hi all, I have recently gained a new permission and on the letter it states "useing a rifle up to .22 calibre." I have been told that includes up to .223. I just want to confirm what calibre I could have
  17. don't mean to hijack this post but what is a aolq condition?
  18. went out with the HMR after rabbits but couldent turn down a shot at a pigeon. 3721
  19. Thank you for all comments I'll give it a think over, got plenty of time why I wait to sort my application out and whatever scope I get the worse thing that could happen is I'll have a new scope for my air rifle
  20. the main reason I want a scope with zero locking turrets is because I want to use the turrets for elevation and windige adjustments instead of holdover and with regards to constant accuracy at that range I have know idea that's what I want to find out, what the maximum range I can shoot with an HMR then hopefully move up to bigger calibre's once I've learned the basics of long range shooting
  21. I'm looking at hopefully shooting it out to 300m (paper only) with practice, I defiantly want a scope with zero lock visible turrets and my budget is around £200
