  1. My personal take on this is pretty similar, but from a different angle. Everyone is aware of the human rights act, yes? Well, in a nutshell that act spells out how and how not to treat a human being, and what constitutes an infringement of their human rights. In my opinion, they missed out a rather important piece when they wrote that act. And including that piece would make the legislation title 'Human Rights & RESPONSIBILITIES Act'. I am of the opinion that if a human being does not take responsibility for their actions or lack of actions, that they should automatically forefeit their human rights. This may sound harsh, but think for a second before judging. Stu
  2. I would say, some good company, some good banter, nice weather (not too bright mind!), good competition between the guns, and some challenging targets! Personal favourite target: I'm not entirely sure what you call this one, but they have it at Lakenheath, you stand on a raised platform (about 4 - 5 feet up), with the traps underneath you. Two clays, come out from underneath you, at a fair speed, and you need to kill them inside about 30-40 yards i'd say. Took me ages to get it, but now i have, i think it's great! Stu
  3. You'd be more than welcome mate! If you fancy it this week there will be five of us in total (which is one full card, but i'm sure we can add a 6th to it, they did for me when i first went!), and we get there usually about half 6, although entry starts at half 5 i think. Let me know buddy! Drop me a PM if you fancy it! Stu
  4. Not such a good night for me last night. While my dad was eating his nice steak in teh clubhouse, i went out and did 50 sporting, which was probably a mistake. I then did the skeet, and suffered with not being able to get into the rhythm of it. Scores were - 18, 19, 19, 20 Not quite as good as my last two weeks, but never mind, theres always next week! (or a quick visit to the range tomorrow when no-one is around to know that i did!) Stu
  5. i'm afraid to say that there is no way they would get a DNA sample from me without arresting me, and physically holding me down to get it. But i'll tell you this much, any part of them that they put near me, they will not be getting back. I can't stand this rubbish and dictatorship that we are now having to put up with, why don't we as a country just say no to it all? I would, in fact I do. Give me five minutes with Gordon Brown in a locked room, i'm sure he'd see my point of view fairly quickly! Stu
  6. Don't know, it didn't say! Was hoping to find out when i was watching, but obviously didn't! Stu
  7. yeah, the CPSA open championship was supposed to be on the tele this morning, but wasn't. Stu
  8. I set the old sky+ to record the programme so i could watch it and annoy my other half with it later on today, but i thought i'd have a quick look at it before i left for work this morning, as my sky box has been recording rather poorly recently, as in teh sound is rubbish! So i sit down with my coffee, only to see it was a conference on the royal show that had recorded instead. They got their listings wrong the *******! Never mind, it's on at 9pm tonight, and 430am tomorrow. Will just have to watch the 9pm one me thinks, so my other half can't watch big bluffer! Stu
  9. any chance it could be sent my way too? Cheers! Stu
  10. 83.409 85.850 86.918 & 91.296!!! Really must get on with some work now! Stu
  11. I have about four places in the house that i could theoraticly secure a cabinet, if i go by the securing into the joists and/or studwork. The house has several built in wardrobes that could be ideal, but that all depends on the opinions of the firearsm officer. If i managed to get a cabinet wide enough to go across two or three of the studs (going across three studs would make the cabinet a rather large one at nearly a meter), then perhaps that would be acceptable, particularly if i used two or three heavy duty fixings into each stud. Not sure about this, perhaps i'll see about getting the firearms officer out to have a chat with him about it to see what he thinks and or reccomends. Cheers for all the help and info guys, much appreciated! Stu
  12. Thank you very much, i'll start looking into it all! Stu
  13. Hi all, I acquired my license several months ago now, and at present have no guns on my license, although i have a berretta 686e, which i get 'loaned' by my dad (it's on his license) when i want to use it. Reason for this is that he already has the cabinet and setup at his place, and i'm not sure if i would be able to achieve the correct fixing requirements in my house. I will be getting all the guns placed on my license as a permanent loan (or whatever it is called where i have permanent access to but do not own the guns) soon, as Dad will be looking to enable me access to the cabinet. It could be that this is the best way forward, but that depends on my securing the cabinet question. I believe, although possibly incorrectly, that a gun cabinet must be secured into a brick wall using specific bolts, and the same for the floor. Is this the case? My house is a timber framed house with brick face, so i'd never be able to achieve that kind of fixing. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated! Stu
  14. Thanks for that guys, have printed some stuff off and will keep you posted on the progress! Stu
  15. Well, the sportings still running, so if you fancy that thats the same cost as always, and with the skeet there's two contests, one is the trophy, and the other is the £'s. It costs £6 to enter the trophy contest, i think it's the same for the cash comp, but i'm not sure as i haven't entered it. Theres usually a good number of people show up, and i think it starts at somewhere around 6 (maybe earlier, but i can't get there until 6pm), and last night the shoot off started at just after 9pm. Bit awkward with the light, but others were hitting all 4, so it can't have been that bad! I believe you can pay your £6, and not have to submit your score if you don't want to. A friend of mines son chose not to have his sessions scored last night, which meant that he wouldn't have been put in the shoot off even if he hit 25/25. If you want some more info, have a look at the lakenheath website, or drop me a PM, and i'll send you my contact details! Hope that helps! Stu
  16. I have a 14 week old lab dog, he's pretty good on the sit command, but not much else as he's just to excited, but then again he is only a very young dog at the moment! My question is when is it best to start doing some basic training with him? Some people have said not before 6 months, others have said not before 8 months, and some have even said not until a year!! Any help greatly appreciated! Stu
  17. Well, week two of skeet shooting, did two rounds, hit 19 on the first, and 22 on the second. The wind was quite interesting, it played havoc with some of the high birds, making them drop weel before they usually do. But i made it into the shoot off for third place, but ended up only hitting one out of the four. So basically i finished 5th. The light really made the shoot off interesting, as in i could hardly see them!! They were orange clays, and it was about 915pm, so i put the yellow glasses on to try and improve the vision, but really struggled!! The pressure of the occasion got to me as well, so the light wasn't the only cause of 1 out of 4!!! Anyone else on here at lakenheath last night? Stu
  18. Thanks! I just hope i can achieve the same or better tonight, especially so now i have set the gun up properly for skeet! Stu
  19. Thanks for that! Have made the updates, including a rather tasteful piccie of me! If anyone sees me there tomorrow, do come say hi, i don't bite! Stu
  20. How do all! Another newbie here! I started shooting at about 14, and did clays on and off for a year, but was never any good at it, and not to mention got sidetracked by the female of the species, so left it there! I picked up a gun again when i went out to the clay range with my dad (at that time was age 25), as he had just started shooting (primarily game, but was taking lessons on clays to help get his eye in), and decided to have a go whilst i was there. That was about a year ago now (give or take a couple of months), and for x-mas i got a Beretta 686E 12 bore. It came with a load of chokes, and has an adjustable stock, which i have never even thought about actually adjusting! I did some game shooting with it, about 3 days i think, with varying success levels, but have seemed to have much better luck with clays. I have done a bit of shooting in the last month or so, mostly at pigeons and rabbits around the farm, but on Wednesday last week i went clay shooting at a local range (Lakenheath, Suffolk) and did a bit of sporting before moving onto the skeet competition for the first time ever. I was quite pleased with myself, as i walked away with 21/25. Not bad for a first time! As it happens, i had also forgotten to change my chokes, so was shooting on half and three quarters in the barrels! I have changed them to quarter and cylinder in preparation for tomorrows competition! Anyways, Hi! Stu
