  1. I've been wandering the same thing actually, my lad is only three, but he's already wanting to come with me when i go shooting! I figured that air rifle when he's about 7/8 yrs old, then progress to a .410 somewhere around the 10/11yrs old mark, with 20g coming when he's 12/13, and a 12 when he can handle it from there. I started with air rifles about 7 yrs old with Dad, but didn't pick up a shotgun until 14 with my step-dad, and that was a 12g (nearly put me off for life, and in fact it did put me off for a lot of years!). Until recently I had never shot a .410, and the only reason I have now is that Dad bought one, and to this day I have still never shot a 20g! Stu
  2. We got pro ones taken of my lad, all in colour, and they are ok, but i have others of him that i've taken in B&W, and i prefer them I have to say! Stu
  3. For instance: I personally think this is the best picture I have of my dog, it's a stunning photo in B&W, but not really that good in colour. Interesting when he's black anyway?!? Whereas this picture is alive with colour (mostly oranges, reds and yellows) and this still 'pops' too. Go figure! Stu
  4. Personally, I think B&W pictures are much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, because they seem to capture the detail a bit more, show more lines, and have a more emotional presentation to them. There are others that think colour is better, and some that think duotone is even better. It's all a matter of personal taste really! Stu
  5. My favourite picture taken on safari in South Africa in December 2007 by yours truly. Called 'Playful', this image has been cropped down, but NOT edited in any other way. Not exactly a ;country sports or pastime style picture, but hey, it's on the water! Stu

How do I get pictures to show in the thread itself? Cheers! Stu
  8. 3 days left 3 people signed up, including me. anyone else interested, or is gonna die a death after weeks of work? Stu
  9. I am indeed, CS2 to be precise! Spent ages on Elements 5, but managed to procure CS2 a few weeks back, and have been learning it ever since! Stu
  10. Thanks for all the compliments guys! It was a new technique that I've picked up, and wanted to give it a try to see if it was one that could be employed without it being very obvious, or just obvious, that it was an edited effect over a real one. May end up putting some more on here over the next few days, keep your eyes peeled! Stu
  11. I'll see if i can put a larger version up for you. Now, there is one thing that i didn't mention. The water isn't real. It's just the original image flipped and HEAVILY played with (about 2 hours of work) to get it to that effect. Hard work, but very much worth it! It's turned a good photo into a stunning one! Stu
  12. i shrunk it to make it easier to upload and view. the original is 54 inches wide! stu
  13. So, how easy is this reloading? What is it like in terms of cost compared to buying pre-loaded (if thats the right term?) Stu
  14. Couldn't get it to show as a picture in the topic, so i have linked it instead. Stu
  15. The latest creation from the master photographer (I wish!)!! Piccie What do you think? Stu
  16. I have been hunting the interweb for a key to fit the victory chokes in my 686e, as i am sure that there must be one made for them somewhere! Each time i shoot a stand i have to re-tighten them by hand, and if i forget to on one stand, the amount of cr*p that gets behind them is a pain to clean off, and not to mention could cause damage. Does anyone know if: 1. there are choke keys for a victory extended choke? 2. if there are, where i can get one! Cheers peeps! Stu
  17. 5 days only! At this rate the event will not be going ahead, please register if you are interested! Stu
  18. I have the 686E 30" adjustable stock multichoke, have had it for about 18 months now, and it has shot: English Skeet (Reg & Non) NSSA Skeet (Non reg) English Sporting (Reg & Non) DTL (Non reg) Sportrap (Non reg) Pigeons Pheasants Partridges My point here is that the gun is great, with minor changes to the gun (chokes & bead specifically) it will shoot at more or less anything (and depending on the geezer at the stock end - hit it too!), and it never plays up. Great all round gun, can't reccomend it highly enough. As for cleaning, after EVERY shooting session if you're a stickler like me (well, almost every time!), or every couple at the least. Stu
  19. Did my usual 100 ESP at Mid Norfolk, and was very tempted to sign in as birds only, as I am an unclassified shooter, and don't usually come anywhere anyway, but for some reason I signed in as competition, despite not planning to. The weather was amazing, it was warm, no wind, sun wasn't a problem on any of the clays, so what more could we ask for! Anyways, I ended up with a score of 85 ex 100, which put me in as an A class, I finished 5th overall (not sure how many shooters there were, but I was no. 67), and took 2nd place in A class! You should have seen the faces of some of the 'established' members/regular shooters of the ground that were A class shots, it was quite funny really, although i think it slightly off that they were rather unhappy that an unclassified shooter had beaten them! Anyhoo, well impressed with myself, couldn't have shot better if i had tried! And that 85 score has finally managed to get rid of all my scores that were in the 50's, making my average now 71.125, firmly in B class if you go by the last round of classifications. And how about everyone else? Stu
  20. Well if i can;t win fairly, I'll just delete all the teams that are above me just before the final round of games begins! Only kidding! I wouldn't do that................................ Stu
  21. I moisturise, I start off by cleaning out with my snake, then I use the soft wool shaft, then when we are gleaming and clean, I rub down with some lovely, soft, silky, lubricating gun oil. And when all thats done, I put the gun back in the cabinet. Then I go and wash my hands to get rid of that awful smell that results in cleaning very dirty barrells! Stu
