I did this, took all the wood, firing pins and springs out of a William Evans SxS, left the barrels, action and triggers etc together. Took it down to the main police station and handed it in and got a reference number. Sent that reference number via e-mail with an explanation and some pictures to my FEO and they took it off my licence. Job done. My advice would be to actually only keep what you will actually use, like wood, firing pins and springs, all the screws sears and hemmers etc are realistically never going to need to be reused as spares, so for simplicity just keep as little as you actually need.

CoventryWire started following 6 Winchokes + Case - £30 , Winchester Riffle Slip - Fur Lined , Browning 525 Ultimate - Grade 6 - 30" Barrel M/C - £2.5k and 2 others

Winchester Fur Lined Riffle Slip I used this for my 28" barrelled SxS, but it's actually a riffle slip with space for a scope, very clean and little used condition (for something 40 years old!) some light wear to the handle seams as shown, but overall very good condition. I'll get some more pictures and measure the length when I get home tonight. I'm not sure what to price this at for sale as I couldn't find another for sale? but I was thinking £60 including postage? .......but feel free to tell me its worth way more!!

Another vote for Midcounties blacking, top-notch work they've done for me in the past, heard great things about Bromleys as well but haven't personally used them.

Its £395 for the work and re-proof, plus you need to factor in aprox £100 per choke insert, so it's a minimum of £600 (work + 2 chokes) but realistically it's the best part of a grand to get the work done plus a few choke inserts.

I've just PM'd you about a 525 Grade 6 I have for sale that might float your boat? Andy

Depends what your selling, but I've found Vinted is much better for selling now than ebay, stuff like clothes and home stuff usually goes well, but be prepared for them to go for next to nothing. - Vinted has no fees and the postage is all built in and combined, dead easy to use. Anything shooting related, guns, clothings, cleaning kit, etc - then get it to one of the big auction houses and let them sell it, usually I use Southams for bits and Holts for guns, but each to their own. Facebook marketplace is good if you are prepared to wade through the scammers, time wasters and chancers, once you've used it abit it gets quite easy to spot the time wasters and sift them out. Facebook Buy & Sell groups are also handy to get rid of stuff, especially owners clubs and specific groups, I'm on one that's just for shotgun chokes! I sell quite a few on there, and they sell super quick with zero messing about or hassle. Plenty of other groups just for certain stuff. Ebay might make abit of a resurgence now they've stopped the stupid fees, but its so closely monitored by the tax man you really need to be careful.

Hi all, Testing the water abit with this before I decide what to do....in the summer I bought this absolutely stunning 525 from auction with the plan to use it for driven game shooting this season, I used it on a Sim day, and it was absolutely beautiful, the problem I have is that its abit too "Nice" for the syndicate I'm with and the shooting I do. I can see it staying at home in the cabinet for the season, while I take my other 525 out with me...... The details are:- Browning B525 Ultimate Grade 6 - 12 bore over and under ejector shotgun, very very little use from new, lever well to the right, action still super tight. High Performance Steel proofed. Gold highlighted engraving of birds surrounded by further scrolling engraving to the locks and underside, engraved trigger guard, top plate and thumb lever, chequered semi-pistol grip and forend, adjustable single trigger, vented top rib and 30 inch multi-choke (Invector) barrels, length of pull 14.5 inch In original Browning flight case with some additional chokes and choke key. I think this is worth £2.5k all day long, you'll struggle to find a better one, collection from Warwick (with SGC!!) or can meet at a local shooting ground for inspection/trial? (I'm open to sensible offers, obviously) (Images from the auction website, I'll get some more later tonight)

For sale Winchester 5500 Sporter, this is one of the last Japanese made Winchesters probably form the late 80s before they ended production and became Classic Doubles. Mechanically the gun is brilliant, very low "mileage" with the top level well over to the right, bores are all clean and sparkly. The wood work has a few small knocks, with a small repair on the toe of the butt stock. Specs:- 30inch barrells with ventilated rib, back bored to 18.6mm fixed choke (1/4 & 1/2), 14 1/2" LOP, small repair on toe of stock & butt plate. Adjustable trigger & selective barrel safety Price wise, I'm looking for £350, no real rush to sell it, just trying to free up some cabinet space, would make an ideal pigeon or clay gun. Collection from Warwick (with SGC!) or I can RFD at buyers cost., happy to send lots more pictures via WhatsApp or email for those interested.
