  1. No, there will be "bio-wads" that degrade in an unknown timeframe sometime in the future. Costing £440/1000... Of course, they took into account the "economic impact", ignoring anyone that actually buys cartridges... All in the name of progress, or at least in the name of protecting commercial game shoots.
  2. I believed it was to do with containing the shot and preventing the steel shot potentially contacting and scoring the barrels. I understood this was why they were all working on the bio-degradable wads with varying levels of success. Would be curious to know if there's any reason that the shot couldn't sit in a simpler "cup" on top of the fibre wad to contain it, rather than a full specialised wad. Would surely be cheaper than a full wad?
  3. Fair, was just trying to see where it sat in the product range. RRP looks slightly higher than the 690 and I can't see new 692 any more?
  4. New product line launched today from Beretta, the 688 Performance. Black Laminate Sporter by the look if it, seems to sit between the 686 and 694. https://www.beretta.com/en/firearms/firearms-family/688-performance
  5. As I understand it they're a permitted target species under General Licence 41. It explicitly allows as a method of control "shoot with any firearm, including ‘semi-automatic weapons’[footnote 8], shotguns or air guns" Footnote 8: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wild-birds-licence-to-kill-or-take-for-public-health-or-safety-gl41/gl41-general-licence-to-kill-or-take-certain-species-of-wild-birds-to-preserve-public-health-or-public-safety
  6. Did they give the justification as to the exemption from the Wildlife and Countryside Act? I would guess it's as a pest under GL41 allowing semi-automatic S1 shotguns?
  7. So, an offence to kill any wild bird with an semi-automatic weapon with a magazine capable of holding more than 2 rounds, or, S1.
  8. Didn't pick up on that on the first read but you may well be right. The mention of Plymouth, more robust procedures, and "assessing the suitability of those already in possession".
  9. Seems due to an unexpected "lack of resource" they are suspending all certificate applications and anyone that has already applied they're quoting a minimum of 24 months. Firearms licensing service update | Gloucestershire Constabulary
  10. Yep just model numbers in the same way Beretta has the 682, 686, 694 etc etc
  11. AFO - Authorised Firearms Officer FCR I don't know, a google suggests force control room which might make sense. The computer pops up firearms held and requests a seizure?
  12. I noticed that, I guess either a one eyed shooter or someone who looks good on film puling the trigger. Could well be someone they employed for the video, you never see him actually hit anything just pull the trigger and a separate clay breaking.
  13. Looks like it's "coming soon" based on this being a video just published by Browning Europe.
  14. Honestly wasn't the intention, but I'll take it. I'll can think about that when I finally finish fitting the cabinet and get the FEO round! Amen to that. 👍
  15. My apologies for posting what you consider a non-story. I saw the post and thought it might be of interest to those interested in clay shooting. I don't shoot competition yet, I'm brand new to the whole thing so feel I may have missed some history/context surrounding it. I realise my mistake was probably in the tone of the original post, I pitched it inline with discussion I'd seen elsewhere on the announcement which seems to be almost universally negative. As feedback from someone who is new to the whole thing though I don't see that this in any way helps engagement or promotion of the sport and seems, at first glance, to be petty infighting. The last statement in the announcement seems particularly troubling. Why would I as someone coming into this choose to take part in something being organised by a group who are actively considering banning people who choose to partake in another discipline? If you can choose to shoot FITASC and what they decide you can shoot, or choose to shoot whatever you like, why choose the restrictive path? Apologies again for the tone and putting my foot in it, it was just trying to share a story seen elsewhere that hadn't been posted here.
