All the lads I know that shoot use either Oakley or ebay glasses and after looking on the Pilla website I thought I come to the best place for information. Thanks in Advance.
  4. Despite snow falling and laying a surprising total of 27 guns turned up for the shoot which was again a quite a challenging shoot. The work done by the Friends of the River Ver has seen the ford continue to be no deeper than a couple of inches deep. NEXT SHOOT 31/03/18 STARTS 12:30 The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. New shooters will receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2018. £16 for a 60 bird Sporting Clay shoot. £13 for a second round. SGC required. NOTE: Fibre wad cartridges only, max shot size 7. Rio 28g 8s are available for £5:00 / box of 25. Can be bought in bulk (£50/250)(£200/1000). Shoot starts at 12:30, currently last ticket is 15:00. (Last ticket time extends to 16:00 as the daylight hours increase through Spring/Summer). Safety Equipment must be worn: Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Defenders. Semi-automatic Shotguns: If not carried in a slip, a breech flag MUST be used. Only 2 cartridges are to be loaded when the gun is in use. The shoot is held over 6 Stands offering a variety of targets, using Standard, Midi, Rabbit and Battue clays and are shaped by the features of the scenic ground. No two shoots are the same. Full English Breakfast Bowls, Bacon rolls, Doughnuts, Chocolate and Soft Drinks are available for purchase. Ample parking. WC. The sight is best approached from the Harpenden to St Albans Road (A1081) via Beesonend Lane. Follow the Brown Fishery and Black and White Shoot signs down the lane for 1 mile. At the ford turn right and continue along the lane to the site. The short length of ford to drive through is only inches deep. The fishermen that come to the site never have any problems. Work is starting on improving the surface of the gravel lane to try and fill in the the pot holes and puddles. 13/14 days the site functions as a day ticket fishery for Trout (Lake 1 and R.Ver) and Mixed Coarse Fishery (Lake 2). Want to try fly fishing for trout or coarse fishing for carp, tench, chub, bream, perch, roach and rudd? Taster sessions can be arranged. Lake and Chalk Stream Trout fishing for £15!!! Brown Trout to 4lb in the river (catch and release only). Note: The Brown Trout River Season is now closed until April. 6. Hi I started going clay pigeon shooting around 6 months ago and up until now I have been using safety gear from the club I go to, however I am now looking at getting my own equipment since I know I really enjoy it. For safety glasses I am considering a pair of Oakley Radarlock's (http://uk.oakley.com/custom/radarlock), unless someone know a good reason not to. The lenses seem to be really good for the safety side which is the most important thing. They come with 2 sets of lenses so I was thinking I should probably have one relatively dull weather and one for bright sunny days (even though they are rare in the UK), although I could always get extra lenses if needed. However I don't really know which colour lenses would be best for me, so I was hoping someone could give me some advice on which would be best? The lens shape I was looking at is the Pitch as it appears to be a bit bigger so I thought it would give slightly better protection. The lens selection available with the glasses isn't huge but Oakley have other lenses available (http://uk.oakley.com/products/6970/26312), so as I say I could even get an extra lenses if the ones available with the glasses aren't suitable for all my needs. At the club I go to we shoot a mix of black and orange clays, so ideally the lenses would need to be suitable for both colours so I don't need to switch when moving between traps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Does anyone have any experience with getting prescription shooting glasses in the Lancashire area? Other than Specsavers?

  10. Not sure what forum to post this in so thought here would do for now. I uses glasses for clays but not for field shooting which is daft really. Anyway, If anybody wants quality but affordable eye protection you could do a lot worse than these: http://www.revisionmilitary.com/product/sawfly/ The 'Revision Sawfly Ballistic Glasses' are now appearing on evilBay as unused surplus for about £25, I think they retail new at £65. 3 different lenses clear, yellow and dark and very very tough hitting all the required safety standards. They have been instrumental in reducing blast injuries leading to sight loss in Afghanistan and are issued to all UK, Danish and most US troops. The manufacturers reckon they'll defeat a shotgun blast at 5m! See you tube for the test. I hope I'm not breaching a PW selling policy but just thought some of you PW fellas might appreciate knowing about this product. Due to redundancies I suspect that a fair few sets will be appearing on popular auction sites in the near future.
