I am not with you, If a 303 has a 75mm chamber then 3" cartridges are ok to use, I doubt it has the fleur de lys on it as it was probably made prior to high performance steel proof but that would not make it kick like a mule. Heavy shot load cartridges will make it kick hard, I have some 42gr lead cartridges that are 2 3/4" so the length of the cartridge has little bearing.
