pigeon controller
Picked up DB 09.00 on saturday and drove out to the country and picked up on a strong flight line to a ploughed stubble field with about eighty pigeons down. We walked onto the field and they all lifted off, waited ten minutes non returned so we moved on. Drove out to a harvested bean field which had about fifty pigeons on it, walked them off none returned. We went out to five bean fields which have not been combined yet, same again none returned. We tried to think of a wheat field that had not been harvested and bingo we found one that had been cut on wednesday and birds were coming and going all the time. At the top of the field was about an acre of Maize. Contacted the Farmer and he said see the Keeper so we drove to his house and asked permision . They have just put down two hundred partridges so it was a no. We decided to cut our losses and return to the ploughed stubble and set up. we tried moving the magnet in ,out, to the side, turned it off, etc. We put all stand ups with no fliers, 12 fliers from different directions. Nothing would make them decoy into the pattern. we picked up 72 at the end of the day all of the birds shot were over forty yards. We then realised who had put the kiss of death on our day. We had seen one of our Farmers Wives first thing and see asked us if we could drop twenty pigeon in at the farm on our way home. Topgunners
Nice one boys. I quite agree with you when you say keep on trying. I too moved the pattern around, magnet in and out etc. I found them hard to drop in to the deeks. 10 or so did and the rest were high or far away. That's pigeons for you.
