Scope advice

After some advice on the following scopes, I’m looking to purchase one to go on my .17 HMR for a short while (2 weeks) until it finds its way onto the .243

Just wondering if anyone has had experience of these scopes and what would be the best one to get..

Zeiss Victory Varipoint 3-12x56

Docter Optic Unipoint 3-12x56

Docter Optic Classic Illuminated 3-12x56

Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x50 IR Long Range

Swarovski Habicht PV-N 2.5-10x56 IR

Big calibre that is- Im guessing you mean a .243??

I would opt for the Swarovski- top class glass for a .243- maybe a little expensive for a 17 HMR though  or even the higher mag of the Leupold once again considering its going on a .243 eventually :good:

Just my opinion

Zeiss Victory Varipoint 3-12x56 GOT ONE

Docter Optic Unipoint 3-12x56 OWNED ONE

Docter Optic Classic Illuminated 3-12x56

Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x50 IR Long Range OWNED ONE

Swarovski Habicht PV-N 2.5-10x56 IR OWNED ONE

I kept the Zeiss out of the four scopes that I have owned on that list. The Leupold is terrible compared to the Docter, which lags behind the Swarovski, which in turn plays second fiddle to the genuinely exceptional Zeiss Victory.

I would also recommend the S&B Zenith Flashdot scopes, if you're thinking of investing in a compact, high-performance stalking scope. Also, I find that 3-12x56 is a more versatile configuration for most UK shooting, than a 2.5-10x56 (re your Swarovski suggestion).

Thanks for all the replies.

my first choice was the Zeiss Victory and you've confirmed that....

The reticle I'm thinking off is the 56 as it works for me....

Alex, its to sit on top of the 243 i got from your good self... ???

Good choice on both counts: the Zeiss, and keeping that rifle (that I sorely miss). It will be a fine combination.
