Basically A friends father has died about three weeks ago. Theoretically he had a SGC with two shotguns on. However it turns out he also had two unlicenced shotguns. He is an absolute emotional wreck, hence the irresponsibility of not informing anyone. My question is, what should he do? Would handing them into an rfd be the best action or would contacting the FEO be the best bet. My main concern is that due to his break down he has left it almost a month without informing anyone. If the rfd is the route, does anyone has any suggestions for a good one in my area (suffolk, Norfolk & Cambridgeshire), PM's welcome. This is all hypothetical of course :good:

The unlicensed guns should not be a problem for your friend, he didn't know about them.

It depends if he wants to keep the guns and get a SGC, or wants to sell them.

He should contact his local Police and ask for his area FO, I don't think you get to chose.

If he wants to sell them he should get them transferred to a RFD, the FO will sort it out.

A similar situation happened to a friend of ours when her husband died and the FO took the guns initially, until I arranged for a RFD to sell them, then he gave them to the RFD.

hypothetically i would ring the feo asap and explain the situation, however instead of "leaving it for a month" i would possibly say "with all the stress he totally forgot about his dads guns", and, oh my god, would you look at that, two unlicensed ones now what do we do mr feo?! :good:

hypothetically, of course
