Ozzy Fudd
think general consesus is .270 or higher, failing that 12ga solid slugs will do the job but maybe not the most effective
mowdy
Air wolf I am going on my 4Th trip to Croatia next month and the most popular calibers that i have noticed are .270w with 150 gr bullets, 308w with 180gr bullets 3006 180 gr bullets +, 9.3x 74, 8x57 ,7x57 12bore semi autos (but not 3 1/2" chambers as they are inaccurate with 2 3/4" slugs) solid slugs and my favorite cal .444 Marlin with 265 gr hornady's fired through a Marlin under lever . 6.5 Swedish is not a popular round over there but any thing bigger with a good heavy bullet will do the job. Mungler
Hants rifle used a .25-06 with 115gr rounds last year - he dropped quite a few; made a lovely nosie and echo down the valleys To be honest most were shot sub 100 yards and it's about placement as much as anything. I was planning on taking .308 with 150gr federal vital shocks.
Heladoxa
I'd go for one of those .500 calibre sniper's rifles

Ozzy Fudd
ive bought a 7.62x39 sks semi auto rifle in latvia, left it on the gf's brother ticket - the boar are usually taken less than 100m in thick forest, so for safety's sake im going for maximum firepower
