shoughton
Looking forward to making the most of an early finish today and getting out after pigeons this afternoon. The winds looks quite good here this afternoon (gusting to 30mph) and I've been watching a newly identified flight line all week. There is a small valley between two large fields that they cross - I've worked out just where to place the decoys whilst walking the dog. At a certain point on one side they'll be able to see the decoys from miles away, it's on the flight line right beneath a sitty tree - it looks really promising. Real bird decoys out of the freezer last night. Can't wait to get out! Even if it doesn't deliver  I shall look forward to watching the flightlines and making some more notes. Shame I had to come into work this morning ..... Steve

Cosd
Good luck mate. I'm out for first time in weeks this Sunday, weather doesn't look great being that it looks like clear sky's with a low westerly wind. I'm hoping the farmer would have drilled by then too, but there are also a couple of rape stubble fields that he said the woodies are on. I don't care, I'm going anyway. deny essex
Well I got six for shooting like a numpty, should have been double that. Spent 4 hours driving trying to find some, and 1 hour shooting but better than reading e-mails, well the not so interesting ones  Ended up west of chelmsford, weather was perfect shame the birds were not around in numbers but thats the way it goes, drill everywhere but unless spilt hard to find any seed on top and what little there is soon gets gleened up. shoughton
When I arrived 50 birds lifted just where I planned to go - so I thought I was in for a great afternoon. I sat there for 4 hours and didn't even see a pigeon! I couldn't believe it! That's the way it goes. I was out with the dog first thing this morning though and managed 2 pheasants, 4 partridge and 2 rabbits - so that was a little better!
