njc110381
I've got some seriously mixed feelings today. My mrs went out to the post box earlier and came back with an envelope postmarked with the trademark Gloucestershire Constabulary stamp. My heart sank. I only sent off my variation last week. Oh great I thought, they're going to be questioning something to get back to me this quickly. Well as it turns out it was my FAC. All the additions (.300 mod, .22lr, .22lr mod, .17AH, .17AH mod, 7mm combi gun) were on there. Fair play to them, they've done well to get it back this quickly. But, and it's a big but... The conditions! The 6.5, 7mm and .300 rifles are to be used to shoot Deer. The .22 Hornet and .17AH for Fox, and the .17HMR and .22lr for Vermin. WHAT? The best has to be the combi gun, what can I shoot with the shotgun barrel Back it goes, AGAIN! I'm very pleased with the team for getting this variation done so quickly, but is it really that hard to do it right?

njc110381
Make sure he tells them that he's going away. Mine step up the pace in a big way if you tell them you need it for a booked trip. I'm not sure what to do. For now I'll get by with what I have but when the AH comes I'll have to get it changed. I need to b able to shoot vermin with that.
ForeignGadger
It sometimes does help to call in to your Licensing office and talk to the person(s) involved. Go in dressed smartly (not in a ghillie suit or DPM) and reasonably articulate, and you might well find things get done quickly and pleasantly. Whatever you do, don't go in and thump a table: they are (mostly) human too, and respond to sympathy and praise. (Just like gun dogs, really.....) Dunkield
The best has to be the combi gun, what can I shoot with the shotgun barrel Not sure how it works for combinations, but surely the shotgun part doesn't have any conditions? Maybe someone who has one, can comment.
mikee
i lost my FAC last weekend, my missus scooped up a lot of papers the kids had been drawing on and picked my fac up with it, i phoned norfolk police on the tuesday morning and explained what had happened and that i needed it for the shooting test on the dsc course, they had one ready to collect from the station by 8am on the thursday, fair play to them for getting it done in 36hrs mikee
al4x
must be on a firearms ticket Stuart so not sure on that one as surely they can't give conditions on each barrel? Very different to my experience my last variation just had everything for vermin and fox does yours look like its printed by laser printer on toilet paper Mikee? as thats what ours look like these days but at least it must make printing new ones simple Edited October 19, 2009 by al4x
njc110381
must be on a firearms ticket Stuart so not sure on that one as surely they can't give conditions on each barrel? That was my line of thought. Being reasonable I should think they would assume the shotgun is going to be used for the same task as regular shotguns are, but I like to be sure. Another issue is that the shotgun barrel could well be under 24", so even if it was a seperate issue, it's still a section 1 firearm I did have all my guns for vermin and fox too, they've just forgot to add them this time!
