TheHunter
I was thinking of adding a black powder pistol to my ticket. I quite like the Uberti 1858 Target .44 in stainless. Has anyone used this pistol or knows of anything better? Thanks
BlaserF3
I used to shoot BP and have tried most type of pistols, the sweetest to shoot was a single shot Le Page. I did not like the revolvers at all and that's from an ex Smith and Wesson 686 shooter.

Full wadcutters down loaded with two and a half grains of bullseye powder . Iam drooling at the mouth thinking of it . Harnser .

Vince Green
Everybody who starts BP pistol shooting goes for a revolver but actually they are a PITA. Most shooters can't shoot accurately enough with them and don't persevere long enough to learn. I have run a club that includes BP pistol for years. I see them come down with their new pistols play for a few weeks or months and then lose heart. A cheap single shot is so much better. LeeinVA
I was thinking of adding a black powder pistol to my ticket. I quite like the Uberti 1858 Target .44 in stainless. Has anyone used this pistol or knows of anything better? Thanks Hey dude.. I shall take a stab at this one.. The black powder wheel gun is nothing like its modern day counter part, however, there is a certain nostalgia to shooting them.. Three types can be had in the wheel gun class. 1) The back strap frame like the 1858, and spiller & bur are the most accurate as the groove in the top of the frame acts as the guns rear sight. 2) Non-back strap frames like the 1850 & 1851 Army & Navy have a groove in the hammer which acts as their rear sight. However, two things to remember? Every time you remove the wedge key to clean the gun you zero will change ever so slightly. AND, these guns are center mass shooters. 3) is the back strap model with modern target sights.. Accurate to only the skill of the shooter.. I have the 1858 with just the groove in the back strap, and we shoot squirrels all day long with them.. Its all about practice, keeping the gun clean, pet powder load, proper ball size, and gun control.. I love these guns, and they shall always have a place with me
