SAK mods

Can anyone explain how I dismantle and clean a SAK mod please?

My HMR one seems to have 'bits' hanging down when I look through the bore, does this mean it needs cleaning?

Are they worth cleaning or shall I go buy another, which I don't want to do because of FAC 1-4-1 fiasco?

I've had two and both dismantled in different ways, and i've heard of a third type described on here too :good:

If its the one with the 3 grub screws you just undo those and slide the baffle part out of the sleeve and the other type i've got had a 'squared off' end piece that unscrews with a 25mm spanner. Again just unscrew the end and push out the baffle part. If you've got the other type i'm syre someone will be along in a bit to advise  As for cleaning i just rub the thick off with a oiled piece of kitchen roll and then take the stubborn stuff with barrel cleaner and a toothbrush.

Mines the squared off job, once cleansed do we do anything like gun oil, sprays, chilli sauce or whatever?

Thanks for both replies!

Scrub any gunk off but remember to wear gloves as that stuff is VERY toxic. Go to your local hardware store/builders merchants etc and get some Anti-Spatter spray (Welders use it), it's like giving your SAK a teflon coating. You won't find nearly so much stuff stuck to it next time. I only put gun oil on the threads so they don't bung up.
