SSS
Out of interest, what is the widest the barrel can be if there is a limit. I'm guessing it has a limit. And also, what makes it a punt gun, as in, how can you define it? Does it have it's own license or is it on SGC or FAC? Sorry for the daft questions. I think most punt guns are a little smaller. It would have to be on a certificate if it was going to be used, unless things have changed. mudpatten
I don`t know if it`s the same all around the country but here the police have had an outbreak of common sense. You are`nt going to use a gun that might weigh over 130 pounds with a ten foot barrel to do a bank job. Most forces seem happy to accept that a gun safe is impractical and, provided that the gun cannot just be picked up and walked off with are happy to approve any one of a number of sensible alternatives such as chaining it to something substantial. In the case of a muzzle loader the percussion nipple and priming magazine can be removed or with a breech loader the screw plug can similarly be stored somewhere separate from the barrel which then becomes no more dangerous than any metal pipe. It should be remembered that a gun safe is not a legal requirement. It`s just that they make life easier for the police. Hope this helps. IT's the same with the Police here as long as the breech plug is locked in the gun safe and the powder is in a proper powder magazine they seem happy as for the muzzel loaders as long as there locked in there quite happy as the chap who came to inspect my gun sercurity said if anybody nicked a puntgun they probally would'int be able to load it anyway then what would they use it for anyway i keep the one i'm using locked in my shed which is in the locked back garden the ones i'm not using are up in the attic which is a heavy old job to get them up there i get a mate round to give me a lift up or down with them all the best Popgun
