badger.22cal
Had a crack at the pigeons again today very tough at the moment, looked very promising at 8.00 this morning, walked off roughly 200 and for the next hour saw well over 1000...BUT same again didnt really want to know, afew came into the decoys and managed 1 yes just the 1 Atleast i know the decoys are working as a sparrow hawk nearly took my crow deeks head off  ... think an early morning visit before they settle is worth a try... i must be mad it was freezing today hope others had better luck today. chubbs45
i know im a newbie to the site but have been shooting woodies for over 30 yrs and to be honest have never done much good on rape when the winter hardens up , i am fairly certain that the woodies will nearly always pick other crops and only feed on the rape as a last resort much preferring the higher crops of brussels etc . of course i could be totally wrong in which case sorry chubbs

To be honest on a list of 10 things a pigeon likes to eat winter rape is down near the bottom of the list. I think also that the 21st century pigeon is a very clever bird and is evolving all the time to recognise unusual danger in the wild. Be this a magnet or poor decoys, human movement in the feild or something that doesnt look right, they seem to suss it out very very quickly. When I first starting using a magnet for example some years ago, I used to get good bags in virtually every field I used it in, in the last couple of years however its been almost ineffective on many occassions, to the extent that I often left it at home or didnt bother to set it up.
