Discovery warning lights - anyone else?

Posting this for my brother - he's got a 2000 V Disco TD5 and every so often all the warning lights come on on the dash - engine management, ABS, everything. The car doesn't stop or go into limp mode, it just seems like a glitch.

A long shot, but any Disco owners have/had the same problem and know if it's an easy fix? Thanks in advance!

That's why they are referred to as "Discos" because they have always got lots of lights flashing.

Munglers one was going all that stuff. I think that the ABS sensors are a well know problem.

My Disco 2 used to go into limp mode if I went from Drive to Reverse quickly.

The joys of Landrover ownership.

Google the "three amigos",

the traction control, abs and hill decent lights all come on with a bong bong sound, to warn you the system has found a proble,

often the wheel bearing or general muck on the wheel sensor.

it needs plugging in to a test computer, not neccesarily at a main dealer as most land rover specialists will have one.

As mentioned above it is the 3 amigo's, it could be an intermittent fault with an ABS sensor, or a knackered wheel bearing, both are a simple job, if you go to somewhere with a diagnostics machine they will tell you which one, you will be about £200ish for a new hub (if it is a wheel bearing) but this comes with the ABS sensor included, if its just the ABS sensor you can get them on ebay and it's a sinple job to do if the sensor comes out (and the allen bolt doesn't shear!) other wise you have to drill the sensor out....

yup, the wheel bearing start to break up and the sensor reads it differently to the other wheels, the sensor data is used to control abs under braking, traction control and hill descent hence the warning lamps, if your brother likes a bit of diy mechanics then try jacking the vehicle up and spinning the wheels, one will most likely have a very noisy wheel bearing :good:
