hookbones
hi fair P.W folk.. iv found a 243/12g combi that i have put some money on so just to keep things clear i contacted northumbria firearms to see if i would need any amendments to the use conditions of said item. i have a spare 243 slot so thought all was in hand. i then got told i must fill a variation in n send it with my license also that the `vermin` condition for 243 shouldnt be there even tho its for named land cleared for 243 that i asked for vermin & was granted it ! so part way through filling in my variation and less than sure i should be filling it i rang mike at basc to see if he could shed light on my position, his response was if i try n put a shotgun on a fac i will be in contradiction of it..its a 243 so as such just because it has a 12g barrel on it it should still just be classed as a rifle! i am told to tell firearms this and see what they say and if i send my ticket in i`ll get the `vermin taken of and maybe the 243 slot then its upto me to fight to get it back on!!! so have any of the P.W folk got 1 of these guns in whatever cal and if so did you get a dedicated slot or did you use a general rifle slot??? id like some more info before i ring the feo ,,if i do need to send my ticket its not worth the risk of loosing the slot besides im looking to do my DSC1 soon as i can so i can get deer on it as well...atm i need to have letters ect giving details of bought stalking b4 i can get them put on just prepairing for my DSC aint enough thanks to anyone that responds in advance ....`the rapidly aging` steve
Steel100
Not quite sure what 'they' have a problem with. Many doubles and drillings (including a shotgun barrel) are less than 24" / 60cms barrel length and will therefore be s1 anyway. Hope that helps! al4x
Is it worth it? they're a gimmick and in reality you have a not particularly good shotgun and also a not particularly good rifle. We don't relaly use slugs over here and really the argument for using it to shoot pigeons etc and deer while out at the same time just doesn't do it for me. In the UK we don't shoot driven large game so why limit yourself, get a .243 that you can sensibly scope and shoot well and have a double barreled shotgun for the rest of the time. It takes a very good shot to shoot one of these well and personally I'd be surprised if you pass the DSC shooting test with one and lets face it its not hard with a scoped rifle
