  1. chris & charlie thank you ... i understand that on forums straight answers are not always forth coming and the trolling of some ppl is more aimed at pulling a post apart rather than giving an answer or opinion so again thanks and soon as *** i will take a pic as it will look in transit
  2. the gun is covered its not on show like that i just threw it in to take the pic so i could ask the question. theres a draw string nylon boot bag over the protrusion the question is can a gun be carried on a bike rather than on me on a bike... i seen many firearms on quads ect but thus far never on a bike
  3. yes blunderbuss thers a bag... look at my chain guard ,do u think id cake my gun in that b4 i even got to the shoot?
  4. of course theres a bag over the stock that i connect to the straps ,my issue is that the 500 wont take down in any significant way and iv found riding with a bag across my back problematic to say the least... the question is more driven to the side mounting on a bike
  5. hello shooting folk, I find myself in a quandary with regard to the transporting of a shotgun on a motorcycle ,i have a pair of Investarms <20/410 combo and 12/12> both folders that go nicely in a ratbag <rat catcher bag> lashed to the side however this is not the issue. my problem was with my Mossberg 500 ATP pump, I love shooting it be it clays vermin or whatever but carrying it on the bike is... well was... a problem. A short time ago I came by a shotgun mollie scabbard which functionally seems perfect securing firmly in place and clipping through the trigger guard holding the gun in. The thing is looking at the rig it just seems illegal to me having part sticking out ,I know that by the letter of the law a gun dont have to be covered but its extremely advisable to have it so, in transit there will be a trigger lock in place and it will be under my charge at all times with FAC on my person ect ... I include a photo and ask your opinions... legal or not cheers shooting types your impetus is always gratefully accepted )=]}~
  6. its alot of car for that 1.6 engine so mk1s would overheat ..that said iv had a few and loved them,i found with the bolt off roof they are the muts to lamp out of as well. iv still got a spare front roof set up with rota lights incase i get another ...<incase=when>. atm im using the terios because its the slimmest 4x4 i could get <any slimmer and you would be lamping off a BMX>
  7. he does have that birken-noggin for sure.. my wee oaf`s birkenwald...beautiful head with errrr... hmmm... unusual workings in there. oh n i must add that purdey is bloody gorgeous
  8. i really thought its a `Bombyliidae` on 1st inspection
  9. i live by the initial shooting in birtley n work just out of dent where the 2nd shooting took place.. there are all the police in the world buzzing about but other than the 1st days door to door i cant see that theres much being done. infact inlight of the threats he made the day b4 release against his ex id say the shear volume of police bodies on the ground is an attempt to look like all possible is being done after they dropped the ball on the 2nd maniac in as many months. oh n swiss.tony remember everytime some barmpot goes ape with a gun n then tops his self the public feels robbed of justice and thats when we legitimate shooters become scapegoats.. AGAIN!
  10. kinetic hammer to split rounds your not happy with... its a learning curve after all.
  11. i have the investarm 20g over/410 under n utterly love it it gets used for everything n shoots great, infact iv got an eye out for a 12/12 investarm as the 1 i have can be expensive to feed ...3" magnum proof folders what can be better
  12. just thought id add this pick with him waiting for our captain to drop a bird for him... hes a little over a year in this its good to be able to put him on someone and even between 2 people covering a dogless area that would otherwise have lost birds.. his beating skills are 1st class too
  13. my big black oaf worked last season on a local walk up. did all that was expected of him tho there was a sin or 2... moaned like right tart at dinner time in the car, then i let him out only for him to try and bone a very young puppy that really shouldnt have been there.. his other lil transgression was to punish the shoot captains odd miss by stealthily helping his self to a bird out of his game bag and bringing it to me much to the delight of everyone that witnessed it . the shear style of a good pointer at work is a thing to see n as such means their trespasses are often over looked ...his 1st day with the guns started with the land owner showing great interest in him as he tore across a field at full throttle, as he said to me "you can see the shear drive & intelligence" fargo bounced of a really obvious fence then went on to do the said same thing on the said same fence 3 more times in a row . its true they are very hard work n the farts!! omg the farts , (at times they smell like a bible story) but never was there a more rewarding dog to own n work despite them thinking their the brains of the operation most of the time.
  14. that would have meant him hauling his carcass off that quad n somehow i couldnt see that happening
  15. almost forgot he had a thing for `murder she wrote` n would sing the theme tune n bounce to it.... odd boy
  16. did the said same thing but i found skegg with a broken leg so i got it straight n splinted it with a cut mcdonalds straw. it healed fine bar the slightest nerve damage in the tip of 1 toe. had him 1st in a parrot cage through winter n then an avery ..then he came n went as he liked ,,,was 3-4 years before he went (the girl i was with had a ragdoll Persian cat that skegg would lure over by dropping food on the floor under his dish then when the cat would get it he dumped on her much to my amusement but not to the girlfriends.! go to the pet shop n ask for large meal worms they go nuts for them <skegg could ask for worms before long> anyway good on you and be sure to keep the fabreez handy rgds, steve
  17. l was a welder a while ago and we had the contracts for morrisons/somerfieds/lidl/netto and kwiksave.. for some reason it fell to me to go round the country and with sealed envelopes for the staff of kwiksaves closing the stores (was harsh being the 1 to tell people they just got layed off) this is a measure of how spineless the upper levels of management are! anyway after i had given the news to the stores i had to return the next day lockdown the sites and weld the gates shut, however pikers got wind of the closures so sealing the sites became a race.. i got to the 3rd site and found they were already there <just the forward guard of maybe 9-10 caravans> so i rang the law to attend and was told there will be no assistance until i get assaulted !!! i had to walk in to the camp on my 8.5stone lonesome and try to talk them out... in seconds i was surrounded by blokes n kids all of which wouldnt speak english n all jeering n shouting till a gruff looking bloke shut them up n spoke to me... over an hours negotiation later i convinced him that theres nothing of value left in the store and the whole site is to be leveled the next day<lies upon lies> in the end he was convinced and said most people would have tried to move them with the law n made them determined to stay put ,i neglected to say that was my 1st plan of action! so within 2hrs they were gone (amazing how much **** is left after 2hrs) and i went back to the guy id left in the van who had locked himself in with his phone in 1 hand n a hammer in the other... all the way home he kept saying "are you insane you? n how big are your balls?" ... must say thats as tense a situation as iv ever been in n i dont plan on doing it again.
  18. i freakin love pigeon watch oh n yes that is my gun he has advertised and it was advertised there before, during, and after my transaction ,,,so was it expected back i ask myself? thanks again folks as ever your all invaluable <bows>
  19. i lived near worsley club n so it was 1 of my 1st clay experiences .. on my 2nd visit 1 of the stands was only showing the clay for a split second so i collard a guy passing on a quad and asked his advice only to be told "if you cant hit it it must be cos your f`in ****!" n with that he trundled off in a cloud of obesity n self importance. not long after i found myself immersed in the gun trade and made it my point to drive as many new shooters away from the place as i possibly could... now i dont know anything of this new system but im sure its hopeless n poorly implemented as seems to be the style there... after all when you have a top class ground you dont need to think about shooters or working systems do you!
  20. skinners have an edged hook on the back with the point of the hook being blunt so as when it it drawn through the hide it cuts clean but wont puncture the puddings, also the blades usually have a steep tip and from spine to edge are quite broad ... dont think your knife must be big either ,the general rule is the bigger the blade the harder to control. tried to upload a pic of my CRKT skinner but it just wont play nicely
  21. the £21 was for me to send back for examination <he suggested i just put it in the regular post> i said in the 1st place i just wanted my money back and notified my feo of the return and why so i could get my slot reopened .. he had a week or so to check it and didnt bother to let me know what he found then after 2 days of calling n being promised id be called back i finally caught him and was told its now working and i could either get it back or take £250 for it n the price was non negotiable. now i know it wasnt "just needing a clean or something" as told nor was it not shooting because "it has a match chamber".. who on here doesn't clean a new gun as soon as you get your mitts on it? and it doesn't take a shop a week to clean 1 either.. i honestly think had i not chased i could have left it 6months n not been contacted steve
  22. i feel you under 18 ... <raises suspicious eye brow>
  23. believe me i soooo want to name names but i know the thread will get knocked off by the mods... all i can say is its in Worcestershire and sells `shooting supplies`.. thanks fair folk of pigeon watch once more your all invaluable i will add i spent many years in n around the trade n always took it that on s/h you had a month to make your mind up if it was the right gun for you & was all in order,,,,,,, also this is why im not biting with the theres nothing wrong with it after they had it back for a week.. the gun in question is/was an amt lightning 25/22 so if you see 1 for sale heed my tale n walk away cheers steve
  24. it begins like this... i bought a s/h .22 semi from a gunshop in Worcestershire for £300 in so called great condition (never shot by its last owner) ..after the £300 cost ,the £17 postage , n the £25 rfd fees it arrived ... a week or so later i got to shoot it n it wouldnt cycle, not even 2 round off minimag let alone subs so i sent emails, made many calls and was told to send it back for repair. another £21 n a few more emails n chasing calls later i just wanted my money back,i no longer care what was wrong, what was dirty, what was fixed id lost faith in that gun n just wanted to cut my losses n get my £300. i just got off the phone having been told i cant have my money back n all he would do is buy it back at £250 no negotiation just £250 in a shadey tone... so now im £100 down on a s/h gun i couldnt get 5 rounds out of so im asking if any one on here has an idea on where i stand on this if so id be grateful of any advice... cheers steve
