Woodcock Pin Feathers

I was fortunate enough this morning to shoot my first ever woodcock for which I'm pretty happy!

The lads at the shoot were telling me to get the pin feathers out to keep as a memento, but none of them could help with locating them.

If anyone could tell me where they are and how to get to them - or better still provide pics or a diagram that would be great.

If you cut the top of the beak off, about half to threequarters of an inch up from the tip, there are two tubes which you can put the feathers into, as the beak drys out it shrinks and keeps the feathers secure. This can then be put in your hatband.

It took me years to get my first woodcock, well done that man :good:
