Tikka T3 Lite

Thinking about changing my current .243 (Steyr Pro Hunter) to the Tikka T3 lite .243, but having done some internet reviews on it, there could be a few issues with this rifle in regards to the floating barrell. This was one issue pointed out to me that can also affect the Pro Hunter (kindly pointed out after i had bought it !) however, never had a problem with my rifle - looking to change it only due to its weight.

How many of you have a T3 Lite and had to modify it due to the stock and barrell problems ? Is there another lightwieght .243 you prefer or could recommend ? Mainly using it for fox and occassional deer.

Thanks

Do you do a lot of walking then? I handled a Pro Hunter when I was looking for a 6.5x55 and it didn't seem overly heavy?

Yes i do walk a lot. The rifle weighs around 7.7lb on paper, vs the T3 lite at around 6.25. When you add the lamp etc, it can be very heavy.

I have a T3 Lite in .223!

Never had the barrel floating problem BUT, I had lots of problem with the whole gun balance.

The T3 is ok, but is THROWN together, you sometimes need to adjust the stock to fit yourself. The floating problem can also be caused by a heavy mod. Its pretty easy to solve on this anyway, as it just a matter of getting the sandpaper out and rubbing down what is only a pretty small plastic support!!

I would think very carefully about ever getting a T3 Lite again, my T3 Hunter in .243 is great, and my 700 SPS Stainless in .308 is a winner. Don't write off the Remingtons, check them out and get one that looks right. It isn't the gun the Tikka is, but I rate it only a tiny bit behind, and if I go with another synthetic centrefire it will almost certainly be a 700.

The balance is worlds better than the T3 Lite!!
