CZ550Kevlar
why are the semi-auto so cheap to buy?. Because they are cheap to make, the most expensive bit of a shotgun is the barrel due to the metal they are made of and the machining involved, semi`s only have 1 barrel with usually no ribs or venting. And the 'gun snobs' ( if such a thing exists) don't want them.
George1990
And the barrel to action fit on a break barrel is machined to very fine tolerances to ensure tight closure, which isn't an issue with semi-auto's.

ProteuS
I suspect part of the answer is America. It's a big market and generally demands low prices. Also I have a 391 extrema 2 and I wouldn't call it particularly cheap.
