nicholiath
I am almost certain my lab bitch is pregnant! I think my mates springer/golden retriever must have had his wicked way with her on new years eve!they were together at my house, outside for a while at this time.It is the only time she has been near a dog unaccompanied! She is kennelled in the back garden with my springer bitch normally.I am going to make her a whelping box in my garage, what temperature should i maintain the whelping box at with heat lamps etc? al4x
lamp wise you don't need it till you have the pups born as you don't want the bitch overheating, then you need it covering part of the box and high enough so they stay warm but don't get too warm but also have room to move away from it if they get too warm. Scan won't tell you that much other than the number pf pups so I'd not worry too much with an accidental mating you'll know soon enough. Sounds like you'll get a proper Heinz 57 mix but probably one that will make a decent gundog in the right hands
nicholiath
Funnily enough i already have a home for 1 of them plus i will keep one, (my springer is 7 years old now) They should be good strong workers. I will use one of the electric lamps we use for rearing the pheasant chicks. i must admit i have been a bit worried since realising yesterday as it all came out of the blue! The main thing is my bitch (Honey) is very happy and healthy. Thanks for all the advice guys, keep it coming
