Spaniel
MM I think you may be better seeing if the Dee Wildfowlers do the day permit scheme and then just pay your £10 to £20 for an outing, im not sure what there rules are but once you have been acepted as a full member you will be able to go out shooting on your own. My club have approx 100 members and to be honest on certain marshes we dont see anyone else out there, on one marsh which as lots of activity we have only seen one other person all season and he was shooting on his own land next to the club permission, so it is really like being out in the middle of know ehere by yourself.. Cheers Ian
bearhire
so you can shoot on an inland sea anywhere as long as you are in a bout and have rowed out ? god this is confusing
scolopax
The BASC wildfowling permit booklet only lists clubs that issue wildfowling permits to non members, usually on a daily basis. If your local club does not issue permits to non members then it will not be listed in the booklet. In England, Wales and NI (?) there used to be a right for BASC members to shoot any uncontrolled crown foreshore for free. Now this privilage has been removed and there is no 'free wildfowling' on crown foreshore south of the Scottish border.

mudpatten
Don`t forget also that, if the area in question is a SSSI you will need written consent from Natural England to carry out wildfowling which is a "potentially damaging activity". As Scolopax says, to all intents and purposes, there is no longer any such thing as "free" shooting around the English and Welsh coastline. Think about this for a minute. If there was any free shooting, there would be no need for wildfowling clubs. The Dee club has an excellent reputation, offers a complete training package to its members and has some superb shooting. Like I said earlier, if you just turn up on a piece of foreshore and try to go wildfowling, you will soon be in a whole world of hurt and kissing your shotgun certificate good bye in double quick time. Stump up the cash and join the Dee club. You won`t regret it.
Trickett
Im sure that the Dee Wildfowlers do not offer the day permits as mentioned. Full members are allowed to take guest out, which is priced at £10. The training process that was mentioned entails 3 march walks, 3 classroom sessions and 10 trips by a full member, once all of these are done you are signed off as a full member and can go out on your own. Very good Wildfowling is to be had at the Dee.
