young birds

i was out last sunday and shot 12 young pigeons out of 87 .i was suprised to see so may young birds at this of year especialy after the hard weather of the last two mounths .i know they breed all year round but thought most of young would of died with all that snow has anyone else shot young birds lately :good:

Yep, me and a friend shot 98 over rape last Sunday, I would say that close on 50% of those were 1st year birds, with probably 10% having hardly any neck markings.

 

I breasted a good few of them last night, and was pleasantly surprised to find good levels of fat still present on most birds, despite the recent hard weather.
